Publisher's summary

Present day. After tragedy plunges her into grief and unresolved anger, Sarah Ashby returns to her childhood home determined to finally follow her long-denied dream of running Old Depot Grocery alongside her mother and grandmother. But when she arrives, her mother, Rosemary, announces to her that the store is closing. Sarah and her grandmother, Glory Ann, make a pact to save the store, but Rosemary has worked her entire life to make sure her daughter never follows in her footsteps. She has her reasons - but she'll certainly never reveal the real one.

1965. Glory Ann confesses to her family that she's pregnant with her deceased fiancé's baby. Pressured into a marriage of convenience with a shopkeeper to preserve the family reputation, Glory Ann vows never to love again. But some promises are not as easily kept as she imagined.

This dual-timeline story from Amanda Cox deftly explores the complexity of a mother-daughter dynamic, the way the secrets we keep shape our lives and the lives of others, and the healing power of telling the truth.

You can count on a happy ending with this author

This is my second book by this author and i do enjoy her stories. They are simple stories about flawed people. Lots of secrets that create problems. I could do without the continuous references to faith and praying. I listen in spite of the religion because they are cute stories. I couldn't have a constant menu of it though, after one of her books I have dive into something deep.

Excellent new author

This is my first story by this author, and it was so excellent! I felt like I was there in rural Tennessee with the family through the generations at Old Depot Grocery. Lots of great messages and spiritual lessons. And the audio narration was absolutely perfect! I’ll be reading this author again.

This story really resonated with my wife and me

What wonderful insight into how bad choices can lead to so much heartache that can persist for generations but how the Lord can heal them if we allow him to!

Great story with the truth winning out

I loved this story. I lived the way the author went back in time so you could see the whole picture of the story. I love that truth wins out in the end. I love that she leaves with a happy ending but more so Sara learning who she is and how the truth effects everything.

What a great book to listen to with your wife and family

My wife and I started listening to this book on a trip but it wasn’t long enough to get all the way through the book. We had to promise not to listen further without both of us being in the car. We actually planned another drive recently just so we could finish it. We loved every minute of the story. We loved Amanda Cox first book as well and can’t wait until she writes another one!!

Loved the authors journey to unfold truth

I loved the authors journey to unfold truth… she was exact when she said the truth will set you free. Her characters bought many moments of joy and enlightenment in my own life, and a love of the warmth of ppl in the south.

Old Depot so sweet

This is a very sweet, heart warming story. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys southern historical stories with happy ending and a bit if a moral teaching. some references to religion was acceptable even thought I personally am not religious.
