Do better

I like the story though it is incomplete to me. Curt Bonnem should never do female voices ever. Otherwise he did alright with what he had. Mr. Daumen please either rewrite this story or bring out another book to complete this one. Overall this a decent storyline just incomplete the way it ends.

its so so

It could be better. Author attempts to mix too much in. It has elements of eastern cultivation, gaming mechanics and an attempt at a hard magic system that kinda fell short. The MC is op in a bad way and whiny. He suppose to be "smart" because he went to medical school, but not really. The fact he went to medical school dont really do much for the story. I couldn't really find any intrest in any of the characters.

seems abridged

Overall not a bad book. However it seems each individual "book" in the trilogy is abridged from the original. Perhaps for a time constraint? When events happen solutions are formed too quickly, almost like a key problem solving component was cut and we jump straight to the conclusion.

Can't finish

Author jumps around going off on new tangents without regard for story line or completing concepts, or story lines.. Seems very contrived, with elements added ad hoc in a "how do I make that work now" way. unable to finish.

This is not a 'complete' story!

As others have said, the overall story is a bit 'meh', but my main complaint is that for a 'complete' trilogy the ending is.. well, just not an ending - its obvious that there will be a sequel so don't be misled by the title of the book - it is in no way, shape, or form a 'complete' story...
