Pretty Good

The Keepers is a pretty good cozy mystery with engaging characters and an entertaining plot. The pace is a bit slow but it's worth it to stick to the end.

Some violence

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. There were some chapters and passages that were a little bit too violent/scary for me.

Really Enjoying This Series

As the headline says... I'm really enjoying this series. For me, the narration takes this up a notch or two. Story is really good. The narration is excellent & a great pairing.

Bad language & too many characters

First let me say I love these books! The first one was much more enjoyable because the plot was more clear and the character development was better. This one had a sub-plot with tough gangster types using vulgar language (every other word beginning with F) and it made me cringe. It seriously detracted from my enjoyment of the book. Please take note Mr. Burton and omit from your next book!

Excellent

Solid story, it took some concentration in the beginning but over all very good book.

Not quite as good as "Finders," but close.

First of all, Jeffery B. Burton is a master story teller. I was waiting for "Keepers" to be released and I wasn't the least bit disappointed. I'll be watching closely for the third in the Mace Reid series to be published, and am disappointed to know that it will be a year's wait. I may have been a little disappointed that it wasn't about a serial killer this time, and that we knew the murder(s) pretty early on. Perhaps that it really wasn't a mystery as much as a thriller. Please remember that 4 stars means "It's Great." because this book was great, just a little different than the first one. Love the dogs and the authors portrayal of the dogs., love the characters. Love the narrator. It's an all around win for me.

Good story, great narrator

Story that keeps you guessing, narrator who captures Mace perfectly. (SPOILER alert--all the dogs are okay in the end)

LOVE IT

I can only hope this continues forever this series!!! As long as you never let a dog die in this book I will read them all!! Twice !!! Love love love!!!! Must listen to the first one everything will make more sense. But not a must.

Holy Cow!!!!!

A swirling conflagration of baddies. At one point I was sure that Kippy and Mace would be able to extricate themselves from the thick and ugly web they have been wrapped up in. Ah ye of little faith keep reading. The "girls" do not come out fully unscathed BUT still Mace's wonderful, faithful and steadfast protectors.

The Keepers was outstanding

Will be reading every book in the series. A suspenseful, empathy evoking, page turner to the end. Love all the dogs, but the golden retriever is the best. The description of the newest puppy was quite humorous. A real, believable, lead character in their handler.
