Publisher's summary

When a violent turf war between rival Yakuza clans exposes a burgeoning black market gun trade in Tokyo, FBI profiler Sterling Gray must hunt a shadowy criminal mastermind.

After a brutal battle for supremacy between opposing Yakuza syndicates goes south, gun violence explodes in the Tokyo underground and quickly spreads throughout the city. Desperate to curb the influx of firearms, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is forced to seek help from Interpol.

Special Agent Sterling Gray is adept at taking down international fugitives...but in the world of the Yakuza, being a foreigner paints a target on his back. Teaming up with TMPD Investigator Mariko Tamura, the pair is tasked with profiling the invisible ringleader behind the complex arms-trafficking network.

But as a clearer picture of their quarry begins to take shape, the details just don't seem to add up. The culprit is poised to slip through their fingers, and Gray can’t escape the feeling that he's missing something critical. If he wants to uncover the truth, he’ll have to seek help from the unlikeliest of allies—and put his mind and combat skills to the ultimate test.

Because in a city with enemies around every corner, any mistake can be fatal.

Packed with riveting action and set in the tumultuous world of the Japanese criminal underground, The Green Samurai is a pulse-pounding adventure by Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling authors Brian Shea and Ty Hutchinson, perfect for fans of James Patterson and Michael Connelly.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Or are they?

This latest installment in the Sterling Gray series once again tests sterling to see how far he will go to identify the UNSUB. In this case the UNSUB is a gun runner, to identify the person Sterling will have to work with the Tokyo Police Force. If you’ve read the previous installments in this series, you know Sterling has faced some harrowing situations and has been faced with making sometimes desperate choices. Well, The Green Samurai is no different, in fact Sterling is going to have to discover what he is willing to do or who he is willing to work with to identify the gunrunner. Each new Sterling Gray story becomes my favorite of the series, Kudos to the authors for creating a series that continually evolves and gets better in all ways as the series progresses. If you haven’t’ read any of this series, you really owe it to yourself to start at the beginning and you will find yourself reading the Green Samurai in no time. I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher and chose to provide this review.

Update 5/16/2023

Recently I received a review copy of The Green Samurai from the publisher and had the pleasure of revisiting one of my favorite Brian Shea/Ty Hutchinson stories expertly narrated by Michael Gallagher. Since Michael narrated the two previous books in the Stirling Gray series I knew when I saw he was the Narrator for The Green Samurai that I was in for a treat, and I was 100% right. Michael brought not only Stirling alive, but he brought Mariko, a character I won’t identify to avoid a spoiler, the Yakuza members and other Tokyo policemen alive with very well-done accents. Furthermore, his storytelling technique was right on target with perfect delivery tempo and pacing.
