INSPIRATION FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES THE LINCOLN LAWYER—THE #1 TV SHOW ON NETFLIX

Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller is back on the job in this heart-stopping thriller from a renowned #1 New York Times bestselling author.

“One of the finest legal thrillers of the last decade” —Associated Press

On the night he celebrates a big win, defense attorney Mickey Haller is pulled over by police, who find the body of a former client in the trunk of his Lincoln. Haller is immediately charged with murder but can’t post the exorbitant $5 million bail slapped on him by a vindictive judge.

Mickey elects to represent himself and is forced to mount his defense from his jail cell in the Twin Towers Correctional Center in downtown Los Angeles. All the while he needs to look over his shoulder—as an officer of the court he is an instant target, and he makes few friends when he reveals a corruption plot within the jail.

But the bigger plot is the one against him. Haller knows he’s been framed, whether by a new enemy or an old one. As his trusted team, including his half-brother, Harry Bosch, investigates, Haller must use all his skills in the courtroom to counter the damning evidence against him.

Even if he can obtain a not-guilty verdict, Mickey understands that it won’t be enough. In order to be truly exonerated, he must find out who really committed the murder and why. That is the law of innocence.

In his highest stakes case yet, the Lincoln Lawyer fights for his life and proves again why he is “a worthy colleague of Atticus Finch . . . in the front of the pack in the legal thriller game” (Los Angeles Times).

“A wonderfully twisty legal thriller… As always, Connelly does a splendid job with both the courtroom drama and the suspenseful, often dangerous process behind it.”—Colette Bancroft, Tampa Bay Times
“Superlative... A supremely intelligent, well-paced courtroom thriller by a modern master.” —Publisher's Weekly (starred review)

Stop the noise

I have always enjoyed Michael Connelly books and I really enjoyed this story. But I hated all that background music. It was like reading a book in a noisy crowd. If future books are going to be like this I will go back to reading the hardcover books. I like to read in quiet so I can enjoy the story, I just hate the background noise.

One of Connelly's best yet!

I absolutely loved this book. The story was incredibly creative, filled with the unexpected at every turn. This is not one of those books where you can anticipate what will happen next. I think it's one of Connelly's best. The story is clever and every action the characters take is totally believable. When I got worried that it seemed to be heading to a routine ending, there were surprises yet to come. However, I don't recommend the booktrack edition. The background music/sounds became repetitive and annoying in many scenes. And for those who complain about the politics, in reality the book just reflected the events of the year in which the story was happening. The facts are the facts, whether they make you uncomfortable or not.

Great Story - did not enjoy the “radio theatre”

Enjoyed the story, did not like sound effects in an audiobook. Let’s not make these wonderful stories a throw back to radio theater. I really enjoy just having the book read.

My first and my last Booktrack Edition.

I’m a long time Michael Connelly fan. This is one of his best. But the 5th rate musical backdrop is distracting and annoying. No thanks.

All of it was excellent.

Love Love Love the music as it emphasizes key points and adds a completely different perspective. I’m based of hearing but it didn’t drown out the narration to me.

Please no music

The background was very distracting from the story. I do not want sound effects, I want to use my own imagination to go with the story. Please just stop trying to disrupt the simplicity of a well read book.
