Publisher's summary

In this riotous young adult romp for fans of Recommended for You and A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, a teen girl has the worst Valentine’s Day ever—only to relive it over and over again.

After living through a dumpster fire of a Valentine’s Day, Emilie Hornby escapes to her grandmother’s house for some comfort and a consolation pint of Ben & Jerry’s. She passes out on the couch, but when she wakes up, she’s back home in her own bed—and it’s Valentine’s Day all over again. And the next day? Another nightmare V-Day.

Emilie is stuck in some sort of time loop nightmare that she can’t wake up from as she re-watches her boyfriend, Josh, cheat on her day after day. In addition to Josh’s recurring infidelity, Emilie can’t get away from the enigmatic Nick, who she keeps running into—sometimes literally—in unfortunate ways.

How many days can one girl passively watch her life go up in flames? And when something good starts to come out of these terrible days, what happens when the universe stops doling out do-overs?

It was good

This book was predictable. That was to be expected though given that it was described as kind of a "ground hog's day" version of Valentine's Day. I do loooove the way it ended!

Not your average groundhog day!!!

Omg!!! I am currently blinded by my heart-shaped tears and have my own confession: I’m an almost 40 year old woman crushing hard on fictional teen Nick Stark. I’ll be swooning for the rest of the day (or rest of my life).

In Love

Bro, this was so cute. And the narrator made it even better. I think it was the nicest little story for Valentine’s Day

Sweet and thought provoking

So sweet and cute and innocent but also thought-provoking on some of the incredibly hard pressures high schoolers face. Love that nothing seemed to be guaranteed and the MC had to work to make her real realizations about what she wanted and deserved. I really loved Jesse Vilinsky performance as well!

Do-Overing done right

This is a charming story. Life lessons learned in an unusual way. The Characters are slowly developed to show depth. My only issues had to be the miss steps in some of the scenes. Examples: Em's bedroom is in the basement but in one of the scenes she goes "upstairs to her room." In a couple other scenes towards the end, there are unfortunately timeline issues. It's at a point after Em is no longer in the time-loop. There are more than a couple days worth of scenes and suddenly characters are referring to the last Valentine's day as yesterday.
