Publisher's summary

Meredith's family's annual game of assassin at Martha's Vineyard during a summer wedding is the perfect chance to honor her sister's legacy, and finally join the world again. But when she forms an alliance with a cute groomsman, she's at risk of losing both the game . . . and her heart.

When Meredith Fox lost her sister, Claire, eighteen months ago, she shut everyone out. But this summer she's determined to join the world again.

The annual family vacation to Martha's Vineyard seems like the perfect place to reconnect. Her entire extended family is gathering for a big summer wedding, and although Meredith is dateless after being unexpectedly dumped, she's excited to participate in the traditional Fox family game of assassin that will take place during the week of wedding festivities. Claire always loved the game, and Meredith is determined to honor her legacy.

But when Meredith forms an assassin alliance with a cute groomsman, she finds herself getting distracted. Meredith tries to focus on the game and win it for her sister, but she can't help falling for him. And as the week progresses, she realizes she's not only at risk of losing the game, but also her heart.

A must read for romcom fans

This book has everything: summer/vacation vibes leading to a wedding, a huge game of assassins, pies, Taylor Swift references, and so much love. While this is a YA, as a librarian it’s one I’d recommend to adult romance readers too. There’s such a wide appeal to the writing. It’s fun with depth and texture that give it an emotional weight in the best way. Highly recommend.

Loved the story but……

The narration was not good. Would have loved it to be narrated by someone like Julia Whelan. Just ruined it for me. Would have rather read it.

In love!

This story was a reminder of easier days and those early summers before life got a hold of us. The author makes you feel like you are in the story with the characters.

YA suitable story

Trudged through this, lacked most things I like in a romance novel. Great for teen/preteen though.

Good story plot.

So many curse words, could have done without. Good story but the writer could definitely benefit from a bigger vocabulary!

Cheesy but great!

Slightly cheesy but super cute and a great feel good listen! My teenage daughter wanted to read it so I listened to it first and approve

cheesy yet charming

I listened to this for a book club and although I would have never picked this out for myself, I actually enjoyed it. A bit cheesy, but well written and charming. The characters are well fleshed out and the plot is fun. I'm very picky when it comes to narrators and end up just reading a lot of books because of that, but I thought the narrator did an excellent job. It made me wish I had a big close family. I probably won't read or listen to other stories by this author as they just aren't my style and a little young for me... but I'm glad I listened to this one.

Cute but a little boring

The Taylor Swift references are so cute! Overall cute story, but not much of a story going on.
