Publisher's summary

You get away with murder.

In a remote sea loch on the west coast of Scotland, a fisherman vanishes without trace. His remains are never found.

You make people disappear.

A young man jumps from a bridge in Glasgow and falls to his death in the water below. DS Max Craigie uncovers evidence that links both victims. But if he can’t find out what cost them their lives, it won’t be long before more bodies turn up at the morgue…

You come back for revenge.

Soon cracks start to appear in the investigation, and Max’s past hurtles back to haunt him. When his loved ones are threatened, he faces a terrifying choice: let the only man he ever feared walk free, or watch his closest friend die…

LONGLISTED FOR THE 2022 McILVANNEY PRIZE FOR SCOTTISH CRIME BOOK OF THE YEAR! Max, Janie and Ross return in the second gripping novel in this explosive Scottish crime series.

You forgot to thank Angus, the voice

I found your books because I was looking for others read by Angus. I’m glad I discovered your books! But I wouldn’t have, had it not been for him.

a rip roaring yarn for the second book h

lots of character development on the reoccurring characters and some new characters are introduced lots of insight onto the politics of policing and at its heart just a really good story with lots of twists and turns Agnes King does another good narration and I look forward to the next book I would recommend listening to the first book in the series to get the backstory on a lot of things.

Police Procedural BEST

I cannot get enough of Detective Max and his team. Neil Lancaster is at the level of Michael Connelly. If you want to be hooked to a book from start to finish this series is for you. Great storyline and memorable characters.

Excellent

Book 2 in this series and I liked it much better than the first, which was still fabulous. I hope there are many books with this wonderful cast of characters and interesting stories.

Well done to Neil and Angus for a great audiobook.
