Good Story

This is good listen, The murders are pretty awful and brutal, showing what lengths people will go to keep a part of their past well hidden. I liked Connor how he unravels the crimes and links them and always keeping his temper in check, not wanting to be like his father.... Looking forward to the next in the series and hope Simon's in there as well. " Even in peace time you always checked under the car before you drove" The narration is perfect

Good beginning

3.5 stars rounded up because of the narration by Angus King which is terrific as usual.

The story was quite good but I had a hell of a time keeping the characters straight. I’m glad this was the first in a series. I will try the next book. I know the writing is good.

Anything read by Angus King is amazing!

This was an intense, fast paced story of danger, intrigue and suspense. I just finished and can't wait to find the next book by this author.

First, I so adore Angus King as a narrator that his name brought me to this book. I may have enjoyed it more simply because of him. But it was a good book regardless. It was fast-paced with appealing and interesting characters.

My only reservation is the conspiracy elements in the story. I seem to have read a lot of conspiracy driven books lately. I am concerned that such fictional work encourages folks to expect conspiracies in the real world. The belief in crazy conspiracies has had frightening consequences in real life.

I will read/listen to more Neil Broadfoot, though.

Bought for Angus King's Reading

I couldn't tell you much about this book because for me, it was very boring. Night after night of listening and I really couldn't tell you what was going on. I wouldn't buy this author again.

is there an editor in the house?

First thing to say is Angus King's narration is spot on for this gritty, gory tale. I think there was a pretty good story hidden here but had a lot of trouble following the plotline . some characters, like Donna, were very well defined, others not so much,. my impression, which I hope is not unfair, is that the book needed more thorough editing than it had received.

COULD NOT FINISH

The narrator unfortunately was not one of Audible’s finest (yet) and made the story too boring to listen to. I tried to hang in there to see if the narrator got better or if the story finally came alive, but neither had happened by the time 2 hours of listening had passed. Cannot recommend this audiobook.

Makes you listen and think

As always, the reason I got this book was because Angus King was reading it. However, the story was fascinating and really entertaining. It made you think. it made you listen and it made the reader use their brain.

Don't bother

I love JD Kirk's Dci Logan series and narrator Angus.
But this book was disappointing, the storyline was loose & the characters not engaging. The climax at the end was "really, that's all...I waded through for this??!
