Publisher's summary

How well do you know yourself, really?

Do you know

  • why you react emotionally the way you do?
  • why you think and behave the way you do?
  • what is really running your life?

This book will open your eyes to your own inner world like nothing else has.

In reality, most of your suffering is not necessary. It's created by old safety strategies that helped you survive your childhood, but then got stuck in your body and covered up your true self. Today, they're an invisible prison, shaping your world, your relationships, and even who you think you are.

Have you begun to figure out that something deeper than your conscious awareness is shaping your life? Deciding where your attention goes and what you think and feel? How you make decisions? Even who you love? Here is a map to that inner terrain - a simple, clear, true-to-life map that gives you the key to understanding everyone, including yourself. If you like the Enneagram, the MBTI, or any other inner map, you'll love this book.

This book can change your life. It's already changed the lives of many others. Get yours, and discover how you got stuck - and how you can get free.

This needs to become curriculum for high school students!
If we knew our patterns at this age we’d be headed for the moon by our twenties!

Overview of characterological defenses

This is by far the best overview of characterological defenses I have encountered in my professional life. An absolutely valuable resource for Bioenergetics and Core Energetics practitioners and any mental health and/or wellness modality based in these defenses.

Start with this self-discovery book!

This is a fantastic resource, not some magic bullet but the beginning of a journey. The information presented is the most helpful I have read for understanding self and how and why we interact with the world. So much of our personality is shaped by childhood traumas. This book is heavy and eye opening for exploration of self and why our lives are full of suffering. It provides analyses for understanding and practices for healing. This is not a book you read once and set down, rather is is a resource that you will need to return to. Think of it as a window into deeper self exploration and healing. The book and additional resources provided in it allow you to climb through that window and start to heal.

Fairies????

I was hooked until he got to commune with fairies and pixies. Don’t waste your credits on this book.

The narrator sounds dead

Like an actual zombie. He sounds like a 120 year old man who is tired and depressed. Couldnt even get into the first few pages.

Pseudo - Psych

I was really willing to give this a chance as a look into how people's experiences shape how they interact with the world and the patterns we can fall into that will shape our interpersonal relationships.

I really wanted to get something out of this. It presents as a look into the psychology of interpersonal relationships. I got up to the "Leaving Pattern" where the author describes a conceived baby having traumatic experiences in the womb and therefore unable to attach to the "physical world" vs the "spiritual world" as the inciting incident and I knew I could not take anything seriously in this book.
