Publisher's summary

“A powerful handbook for anyone rebuilding themselves after life-altering moments to fly forward."—Jim Kwik, New York Times best-selling author of Limitless

You know those awful, terrible, sucker-punch moments in life? The ones that knock you down, burn you up, or make you cringe so hard you wish it was all a bad dream? Probably–because we all do. These epic, messy, oh-no-oh-crap moments of chaos are just part of life–yet, as Dr. Neeta Bhushan shows us, they're also beautiful opportunities for change.

As co-founder of the Global Grit Institute, a mental health training platform for leaders and coaches, co-founder of the Dharma Coaching Institute, training thousands to live their best lives, and a thriving coach in her own right, Neeta Bhushan has helped thousands of people move past their heartbreaks, failures, and disappointments. And after years of research into human behavior, observing people in their worst and best moments, being a mother of two small children, and failing more than a few times herself, Neeta knows what it takes to get back up no matter what bowled you over.

That Sucked, Now What? is a real-talk guide to personal growth that draws on and embraces the suck–and helps you break through to lasting, audacious resilience. You'll learn why it's so hard to get back up when stuff goes down, how four core components of your life shape your individual Bounce Factor, and how to navigate the five stages of the Fly Forward framework through Falling, Igniting, Rising, Magnifying, and on to Thriving. Along the way, Neeta shares successes and failures of her own, from the wonderful to the WTF, in an indispensable book to pull off the shelf whenever life serves up a setback, no matter the size.

"If you’re someone who feels that life just isn't going your way, read this book. Dr. Neeta lays out actionable tools for overcoming obstacles and building your resiliency so you can get that extra push toward your dream."—Vishen Lakhiani, New York Times best-selling author of The Buddha & the Badass

A mantra and a map towards “falling forward” and thriving.

The title is only a taste of the mental reprogramming I felt with this book. Each chapter dissolved a deeper layer of sucky moments and gave me understanding of how to bounce into a more resilient version of myself. The stories were powerful, relatable, and shifted my perspective on some past setbacks. This audiobook is a must for anyone who wants to create a life that feels good.

I finally have a permission to not be perfect!

As I was listening to the book I must have gone through all the possible emotions, anything from laughing to crying, deep thoughts, recollections of great moments as well as relief that I am not the only one with my problems. I could really relate to the book and listening to it opened for me an opportunity to forgive myself for my mistakes! Be kinder to myself! It helped me finally understand that it's nothing wrong with failing, as long as we can embrace the suck and move on!

The book not only helped me reflect on my life and have a new approach to sucky moments, it also provided lots of examples of what those moments can be and a clear guide on how to deal with them. Besides, I loved listening to Dr. Neeta's voice - so calming. <3

Embrace the suck

I listened to this audiobook whilst clocking up my daily steps
I like the genuine stories shared that helped bring the book alive and resulted in me doing more steps than planned each day so I could listen more
Life does suck for everyone at some point in time and understanding that and learning what to do following the how to steps is invaluable

Puts Healing into Words

I found this author from the “Whats the Juice” podcast. I immediately resonated with what Neeta was sharing. In regards to this book, I love how she structured it- using words like “flying”, “magnifying”, and “falling” to signify where you are at in your journey. These words and the way she defined these points in our life really gave me a structure to look at my own life in a different lens. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels “stuck” at any point in there life, whether it be in their relationship, career, or even just have that little voice in the back of your head that is saying “I can be more than this”.

Finally! The best kept secret to freedom!

This is simply what we all need to know and practice. Bad things are going to happen. We are on planet earth. But there is beauty in it and most of us don’t get to it because we are focused on the problem.

Love it.
