Publisher's summary

In the shore town of Sea Breeze, Sadie discovers that fame is nothing in the face of passion. A steamy listen from best-selling author Abbi Glines.

Sadie White’s summer job is at the beach, but she won’t be working as a lifeguard. Since her mom is pregnant and refuses to work, Sadie will be taking over as a domestic servant for a wealthy family on a nearby island.

When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie were normal - if she hadn’t spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house - maybe she’d be excited about working for a rock star. But she’s not.

Even though Sadie isn’t impressed by Jax’s fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax, but he fights his attraction: Relationships never work in his world, and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. Yet as the summer stretches on, Jax’s passion leaves him breathless - and Sadie feels like the only source of oxygen.

Can their love overcome the disparity in their lifestyles? One breath at a time, they’re going to find out.....

Sweet!

This book not as good as" fallen too far", but it was a sweet little love story. If your looking for a light little romance this book is for you.

Sweet but missede something in the story

A classic story about a poor girl falling in love and getting the rich and famous guy. Some parts are just to obvious. It was sweet but something is missing in the story - perhaps some details about the past and/or details connecting the story together. The narrating is outstanding though.

Intense Schmaltz

This book was pretty intensely schmatlzy. I wanted there to be a real villain or a real conflict, or some comedy or something. But mostly there is mooning and lovey doveyness. I did not laugh once during this book and spent a lot of time yelling about people being jerks. And NONE of those jerks had a satisfying comeuppance.

It pretty much reads exactly like a teenage girl's fantasy summer romance, complete with maudlin song lyrics.

I also felt like this book is pretty sex negative for a book with a lot of sex in it. There is some pretty intense slut shaming of one character, and a lot of "oh I'm an innocent virgin who has no problem having orgasms even though I don't know what they are!" Yeah right.

The readers were good, and it was a sweet story, just very one note. I finished it, but I was pretty ready for it to end.

I don't think this book was bad, it was just not for me. If it sounds like it is for you, you should check it out.

Could this book BE any harder to listen to?!

I felt like I was listening to a female Chandler Bing! There were strange pauses and awkwardly emphasized words. I struggled to finish, but got through it since I paid $11 for it.

Not that great

I really liked the characters but the story just wasn't filled out enough. They spent most of the book apart and the next in series(which I think I will not continue ) is about side characters in this one. The female narrator was just ok and the male.....well all I can say is where is Sebastian York when you need him?? This guy was really !!! bad.

Great Story with the young adult

Loved this story. Of course, I wouldn't want my high school kids to see what goes on between Sadie and Jax. Wouldn't want to encourage it. Cute story. I can only imagine how stressful it is being a teen heart throb. The author came up with the perfect type of girl that would be right for Jax. The narrators did a good job as well.

A NICE YA NOVEL

I bought this book after reading the "Too Far" series without realizing it was in the YA genre. For me, this book was a good "in between" book when you're too burnt out of the more dark, ansty, drama-filled reads. It's evident that this is an earlier work by Abbi Glines. I liked Jax Stone, the teen, rock star sensation. He reminded me of a Jonas brother as he came across as an All-American good guy who was tired of the superficial, highly publicized celebrity lifestyle seeking something more in life. Well, he certainly finds it! While vacationing in Sea Breeze, Alabama in his luxury family home, he catches sight of the very beautiful Sadie White who is in his employment as a maid. Sadie is somewhat of an "old soul" as she is very mature for her age of 17 years. She has had to grow up quickly living with an irresponsible single mother, who at the moment is pregnant. Sadie takes on this job to support her household.

The secondary characters are endearing. I felt bad for Marcus (Sadie's work colleague) as he experienced unrequited love from Sadie. I enjoyed Ms. Mary, the head of the service personnel, and I also liked Marcus' younger sister Amanda.

The love story between Jax and Sadie was sweet and not too steamy. Because the leads were so young, this book felt unfinished, even when you knew they would end up together at the end. There isn't a real solution since Sadie is still living under another person's roof (since she's under age) and both Sadie and Jax can only dream and plan about their future together. I understand their story is further developed and explored in the books that follow. I'm not sure if I will continue with the series as it's a bit too tame for my liking. I may continue when I'm in an "in between" phase again, but this is more due to my own preferences and not that there was anything wrong with this book or series.

Narrator: I really liked Shayna Thibodeaux's narration. She brought an ease and casualty that radiated through and made this one easy listen. I thought Kirby Heybourne did well also.
