Publisher's summary

When returning to her past threatens her life and a murder occurs....

When Mia Blackburn returns to Shadow Lake to inherit her uncle’s property, she doesn’t expect a threatening warning before she even reaches the rustic resort. And when a fire traps her in the burning barn that very day, she fears she won’t get out alive. Just in time, Ryan Maddox, her ex-boyfriend and Shadow Lake Survival owner, rescues her from the deadly blaze. She’s thankful for his rescue, but after their tumultuous breakup, he’s the last person she wants to see.

Will she be the next victim?

Despite the threatening warning and her residual feelings for Ryan, Mia won’t let anyone scare her from the rustic resort before she fulfills the terms of her uncle’s will and inherits the property. Ryan insists on keeping a close eye on her, and soon Mia feels safer and closer to Ryan than ever before. Yet, the threats haven’t stopped, and soon Mia’s inheritance includes a murder, where she could be the next victim.

Great story, hard to connect with heroine.

Another great book from an incredible author, and the narrator is the best in the business. But it was honestly hard to believe or connect with Mia as a character. Overall quite good though.

Disappointing.

Tedious story development. Dragged on and on. Lost credibility after awhile. Couldn't stay immersed as I just wanted it over.

Another winner for Susan Sleeman c

I get excited when a Susann
Sleeman Audiobook comes out! This book is no exception. A super listen with lots of twists & turns. I loved the characters, especially Mia, who has learned how to trust in God, and how to forgive her self. I’m looking forward to the next book!

Exciting

I loved the continuing of meeting old friends in this new series! The characters became new friends quite fast. can't wait to read the next book.

SLOW AND BORING

Not near as interesting as her other series. I also don't like the way the narrator does children's voices. It's the same voice for every child in every series and they ALWAYS sound spoiled and bratty. When an adult tells them to do something they whine, pout and say "Not Fair!!" From now on I will avoid all Susan Sleeman books that have a child in it. I thought they would get better, but it's still the same!! I refuse to be around spoiled, brats and sure don't want to listen to them in my audiobooks.
