Can't Wait to Try More of Her Recordings

This is the first Sharon Salzberg audio I ever tried. I'm very satisfied...thrilled with this little book full of refreshing approaches to the usual mindfulness and meditation in my collection.

Fantastic short meditation sessions

Any additional comments?

Sharon Salzberg is excellent at making meditation and practicing mindfulness easy to do and understand. With her gentle guidance, I found it much easier to do daily meditation sessions. On my own, I simply cannot relax enough to pay attention to do this. There are many short sessions on this audio.

Horrible Gong Sound Between Sessions

There is a horrible gong that goes off at the end of every chapter. I like to meditate and when I do, I often drift off into a blissful sleep. The gong wakes me up every time. It’s startles me, and it’s very disconcerting. The meditation sessions are lovely. But I’m going to return this book because I absolutely hate being startled out of my relaxation.

Not actually an audiobook

This selection requires the use of an extensive pdf, which even with my text reader is tedious!
It is not an audiobook! Only the exercises themselves are audio with no explanation outside the pdf.

Great if you use it right

Where this book excels is in it's ability to give you multiple shorter meditations you can do throughout the day. In a traditional retreat, you'd avoid all the items of your regular daily life like your phone and work. You can go through and do a meditation from this every time you get a chance to throughout the day and get great results. If you're a newcomer and looking to boost your meditation, that's a great approach to take to do so. You can really do that just about every day. You might want to do the meditations out of order from where they are in the boook, though. For example, I like doing a body scan in bed while I'm getting ready to fall asleep. Great versions of the basic meditations like mindfulness of the breath. There is a loving kindness meditation in here that's in the format I prefer. A bit short and not structured enough for what I I'd consider a true day of meditation. If you save things like cleaning up around your house for Sunday, then you can fairly easily set these up at various times throughout the day and mindfully clean around the house between meditations. It's basically a good collection of varied basic meditations anybody can try at any level. This could be very good for a true beginner if you do a meditation or two or three a day.

Excellent introduction!

Sharon Salzberg is a good companion into meditation. She has clarity, warmth, and intelligence.
I think she has the whole idea of compassion ingrained in her being. She is most welcoming.
