This wonderful book shines a light on the fact that intelligence, that is "book smarts," is just one component of what contributes to a person's overall success in life. Pursuing qualities such as self-esteem or persistence will make you more effective in your work, as well as bring more joy into your life. He gives you sound examples of how to cultivate areas in your own life, so you are not just reading about how it "should" be.
That said, the narrator starts off well reading this book. He is engaging and fairly easy to listen to. However, at the points when he needs to share the quotes of a variety of people, he uses a strange and almost comical variety of voices and it does not work well. I became so annoyed with this over-acting, that eventually, I had to skip through it. It is truly awful.
I had read the book, and just wanted to reiterate the information more clearly in my mind as I drove. Reading the book is worth the effort!
It is after you buy the book that you realize that you need access to the online assesment tool. It's been a week and no code has been provided so far. I've just called Customer Service to see if I will receive the promised access.Unless you get tested through the online tool, the audiobook is useless.
No, I don't believe others would be this shortsided
The interviews with individuals was not helpful. The worst part was the male reader speaking in a feminine voice. This is not a child's story book and it only took away from the content.
It is such a turn off to listen to the male narrator fake a female voice when quoting a woman who has responded to a personality profile question regarding a coworker. If he's quoting a male coworker, he takes on a cowboy drawl and lowers his voice an octave. It's really bizarre.
I needed a Talent Smart Passcode to access a test for class. I was expecting one to come with the audio version of the book because it is included in the traditional hard copy.
I learned areas I should work on to be more effective professionally! I also discovered the areas I was already strong in.
It is easy to listen to and I suggest anyone looking for a professional advantage, to listen to this book on Audible.
family tree buff
I would compare it to the Happiness Advantage, which I thought was a better book.
I will take the test, if I ever receive the password.
