Publisher's Summary

There’s something out there: a juggernaut of evil bearing down to crush the Republic - unless one lone Jedi, shunned and reviled, can stop it.

Revan: hero, traitor, conqueror, villain, savior. A Jedi who left Coruscant to defeat Mandalorians -and returned a disciple of the dark side, bent on destroying the Republic. The Jedi Council gave Revan his life back, but the price of redemption was high. His memories have been erased. All that’s left are nightmares - and deep, abiding fear.

What exactly happened beyond the Outer Rim? Revan can’t quite remember, yet can’t entirely forget. Somehow he stumbled across a terrible secret that threatens the very existence of the Republic. With no idea what it is, or how to stop it, Revan may very well fail, for he’s never faced a more powerful and diabolic enemy. But only death can stop him from trying.

"Didn't even bother to finish this one."

Just awful. Ruined Revan, Canderous, and Bastilla as characters for me. If you are looking for an engaging story about Revan, maybe the story about the Mandolorian wars or finding the Star Forge, you will be just as disappointed as I am. This takes place well after the events of the game end and it is absolutely awful. I don't think I will take a chance on another Star Wars book for a while.

Starts slow, gets better, disappointing ending. Not a great followup to SWKOTOR storyline. Makes me want to play the games again so if that was your secret plan...it worked

My only complaint is that the narrator would mispronounce names of a lead character And the name of reven's ship for the majority of the book

Its the best book I have ever read. Honestly I wish they would of made a trilogy of movies based on this rather than the ones they did, its that good.

    "Exceptional."

It fills in the gaps between Kotor 1,2 and SWTOR perfectly. If you haven't played these games, you might be lost though. SWTOR would come after this story, and is not necessary to read to understand the importance of the story here.

"It was a great story with excellent narration!"

It was a very interesting story especially if you have enjoyed the Knights of the old republic games. The narration was near perfect. Women's voices sometimes sound a little comical but that is to be expected. Other than that it was excellent narration. Thoroughly enjoyed the audio book and have already downloaded the second in the series.

    "Incredible."

This was about absolutely compelling listen expertly read. The addition of background noise fitting the scene of what's going on was a great addition to the immersion to allow the reader/listener to draw a picture of the scene. The revelation of what happened to Revan after KOTOR has always intrigued me and reignited my love for the series.

    "Exceeded Expectation"
Where does Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

First Audiobook I have downloaded from Audible.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Suprisingly Lord Scourge steals the show with an interesting story arc, an unexpectedly three dimensional character.

Have you listened to any of Marc Thompson’s other performances? How does this one compare?

    No

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

Fans of Knights of the old republic and the sequel will appreciate the bridging of the two games and padding of the lore. With a bittersweet story, strong characters and immersive world this is well worth a listen.

    "A particular taste"

The writing is good enough for a casual 'beach listen' style but don't think about it too much. It is an entertaining listen for any Star Wars fans but probably won't hang together as an ordinary scifi listen if you aren't a Star Wars fan.

The production of the audio book is much more in the style of a dramatisation with sound effects etc.I'm not sure how I feel about that really.

    "Enjoyable audiobook"

Altough I didn't knew Revan, reading this book while playing Star Wars the old republic proved helpful.
I got to know the history of how the emperor came to power, some knowledge about the planets like Dromund Kaas, history about the mandalorians, etc...

The book is very action and lightsaber fight oriented. I didn't find it dull at all.
The narrator was excellent comparing to other audio books, I especially liked all the StarWars FX'es in the book. The sound of explosions, lightsabers, starwars soundtracks, background humming etc made it great.

My review would probably been different would it not have been an audio book and would I not be playing the new MMORPG StarWars the old republic.

"This badly written book destroyed Revan."

This book is supposed to continue the legend of Revan after KOTOR. Revan was once the greatest of Jedi, then the greatest of Sith and finally returned to the light to become again the greatest of Jedi of his time. This book turns Revan into a very normal unimpressive failure. The author repeatedly has Revan fail and attempts to make the fail seem like some sort of victory. Revan is almost pointless in this book. The Jedi exile comes out of this book as the heroic character that Revan should have been. I won't spoil the ending but I will say that it basically turns the entire book into one long advert for the new Star Wars The Old Republic game. Very very disappointing. Badly written pointless book that destroys Revan while trying to suck you into the new game. Avoid.
