There’s something out there: a juggernaut of evil bearing down to crush the Republic - unless one lone Jedi, shunned and reviled, can stop it. Revan: hero, traitor, conqueror, villain, savior. A Jedi who left Coruscant to defeat Mandalorians - and returned a disciple of the dark side, bent on destroying the Republic. The Jedi Council gave Revan his life back, but his memories have been erased. All that’s left are nightmares - and deep, abiding fear. What exactly happened beyond the Outer Rim? What exactly happened beyond the Outer Rim? Revan can’t quite remember, yet can’t entirely forget. Somehow he stumbled across a terrible secret that threatens the very existence of the Republic. "Great book, shot in the foot by the distractions"
Would you consider the audio edition of Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan to be better than the print version?

    No.

How could the performance have been better?

I wish they had just had the reader performing the book instead of having the addition of distracting noises and music that aren't necessary because Drew Karpyshyn is a competent writer that doesn't need these sort of things :/

"Good story, excellent narration as usual"
What did you like best about this story?

This book is heavily based on the Knights of the Old Republic games. If you haven't played those, I would skip this book. I loved those games, so this was a great read. The book fills in a lot of the holes from the games - especially the second.

What does Marc Thompson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I specifically looked for a book narrated by Thompson, since I've enjoyed his work in the past. He does a great job in this book, as usual.

    Any additional comments?

The book is fairly dark. Karpyshyn in general is darker than a lot of other Star Wars writers. Overall a pretty good listen. I couldn't put it down.

    "The continuation of KoTOR"
What did you love best about Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan?

Obviously, Revan. As a fan of the KoTOR game I loved hearing more about him and what happened after the events of the game. This book fills that spot and gives some sort of closure.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan?

The part where for the first time Revan shows up with his old mask and just shows everyone why he is one of the most powerful Jedi that ever existed.

What does Marc Thompson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The excellent voices naturally. He makes everyone so distinct it is hard to believe he is doing this on his own. Canderous and Skourge are especially pleasant to listen too.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The ending...got a big Darth Vader: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    Any additional comments?

If you are a fan of KoTOR, a fan of SWTOR or just a fan of SW you really need to get this book.

    "Great tie-in with the game"
What made the experience of listening to Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan the most enjoyable?

The sound effects and music played along perfectly with the story and narration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan?

Getting to know what happened to Revan was great for a fan like me. However, I was not a fan of the ending of this book. Everything leading up to it was amazing, though. Also, some things in the book didn't match up with the game, but you might only notice that if you've played both games about 20 times like I have.

What about Marc Thompson’s performance did you like?

The different voices and enthusiasm were excellent. He pronounced the name of the Ebon Hawk wrong, but that aside, he was fantastic.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Loved the book, just not the ending.

    "Solid Back story for KOTOR"
If you could sum up Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan in three words, what would they be?

    Good, solid storyline.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the back story for KOTOR.

Which character – as performed by Marc Thompson – was your favorite?

    Lord Scourage.

    Any additional comments?

Revan, possibly one of the greatest Jedi, would never live up to his potential. The Jedi council should used his wisdom from being both Sith and Jedi, but they would fail to learn from their fundamental short-comings.

"Great book up until the end"
If you could sum up Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan in three words, what would they be?

This was a great book all the way up until the end, until the writer placates Lucas by killing of the Exile and placing Revan in perpetual lock down. All so he doesn't have to make a third in what was supposed to be a trilogy (Game). What a sad and disappointing end.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Revan and Exile

What about Marc Thompson’s performance did you like?

    Did a very good job

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    When Revan proclaim "Revan reborn"

    Any additional comments?

Wish it would have ended better.

    "KOTOR Fans rejoice!"
Where does Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is by far one of my favorite audio books. I love the sounds effects that all Star Wars audio books incorporate into the story telling. You can hear the lightsabers turning on, droids beeping/whistling, etc...

What was one of the most memorable moments of Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan?

Discovering who Revan was married to.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When they tied together both of the KOTOR video games into the story.

    Any additional comments?

If you loved the KOTOR video games, then this is what we have been waiting for.... closure WRT Revan's and the Exile's stories.

    "Truly amazing characters; average story"

Despite being the protagonist in Knights of the Old Republic, Revan may still be one of the more mysterious characters in Star Wars lore. If not the most mysterious, certainly the most fascinating. In this book we finally get a peek inside his head as he explores the unknown threats of the uncharted regions of space. For that alone this book is worth reading.

Additionally, it fills in the gaps between the two KotOR games and the Old Republic MMO pretty well -- although maybe not ALL the gaps. Certainly the ones that interested me, anyway. If for nothing else though, Marc Thompson is the best narrator I have come across and his readings are always worth listening too.

"An above average Star Wars dramatization"

I found this dramatized novel to be a little better than many of the Star Wars novels. I always think the injection of Star Wars sound effects and music to be a little unnecessary, but the writing and narrator are quite good and power on through the goofy sound effects.

If you've enjoyed Star Wars novels in the past - or if you're a fan of the 'Knights of the Old Republic' then you'll likely find this book an entertaining listen.

    "problems"
Where does Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Middle of the road

Would you be willing to try another book from Drew Karpyshyn? Why or why not?

Unsure, the story was slow and dragged on which is unfortunate since Revan is a beloved character from the games and the book left more questions than it should have.

    Any additional comments?

    Frustrating book, good but frustrating
