Publisher's Summary

After a violent civil war and the devastation wrought by the now-fallen Darth Caedus, the Galactic Alliance is in crisis and in need. From all corners, politicians, power brokers, and military leaders converge on Coruscant for a crucial summit to restore order, negotiate differences, and determine the future of their unified worlds. But even more critical, and far more uncertain, is the future of the Jedi.

In a shocking move, Chief of State Natasi Daala orders the arrest of Luke Skywalker for failing to prevent Jacen Solo's turn to the dark side and his subsequent reign of terror as a Sith Lord. But it's only the first blow in an anti-Jedi backlash fueled by a hostile government and suspicious public. When Jedi Knight Valin Horn, scion of a politically influential family, suffers a mysterious psychotic break and becomes a dangerous fugitive, the Jedi become the target of a media-driven witch hunt. Facing conviction on the damning charges, Luke must strike a bargain with the calculating Daala: his freedom in exchange for his exile from Coruscant and from the Jedi Order.

Though forbidden to intervene in Jedi affairs, Luke is determined to keep history from being repeated. With his son, Ben, at his side, Luke sets out to unravel the shocking truth behind Jacen Solo's corruption and downfall. But the secrets he uncovers among the enigmatic Force mystics of the distant world Dorin may bring his quest and life as he knows it to a sudden end. And all the while, another Jedi Knight, consumed by the same madness as Valin Horn, is headed for Coruscant on a fearsome mission that could doom the Jedi Order and devastate the entire galaxy.

    "Great star wars story"

This is a great story, and the way is narrated make you think you are actually seeing all the characters from the movie.

    I like it a lot!

    "A great start."

Loved both the story and the performance. Marc Thompson is a master as always. The book was somewhat slow and a tad convoluted, but I look forward to the next books in the series.

    "Fun little series"
Where does Star Wars rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have found it difficult to figure out the order in which to listen to the star wars series of novels. There is nothing worse than listening to a series and starting another only to find that you missed a series and a few of your favorite characters have died... Be sure to visit wookieepedia before jumping right into a series to make sure you are listening to them in order.

The 'Legacy of the Force' series should be read before 'Fate of the Jedi'. Audible only has them abridged. I have not listened to them, but I wish I would have.

The best series I have listened to is the Thrawn Trilogy by far.

I would listen to the Star Wars books in the following order:

The Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn
    Heir to the Empire
    Dark Force Rising
    The Last Command

The Hand of Thrawn Duology by Timothy Zahn
    Specter of the Past
    Vision of the Future

The Legacy of the Force series
Legacy of the Force: Betrayal by Aaron Allston
Legacy of the Force: Bloodlines by Karen Traviss
Legacy of the Force: Tempest by Troy Denning
Legacy of the Force: Exile by Aaron Allston
Legacy of the Force: Sacrifice by Karen Traviss
Legacy of the Force: Inferno by Troy Denning
Legacy of the Force: Fury by Aaron Allston
Legacy of the Force: Revelation by Karen Traviss
Legacy of the Force: Invincible by Troy Denning

The Fate of the Jedi series
Fate of the Jedi: Outcast by Aaron Allston
Fate of the Jedi: Omen by Christie Golden
Fate of the Jedi: Abyss by Troy Denning
Fate of the Jedi: Backlash by Aaron Allston
Fate of the Jedi: Allies by Christie Golden
Fate of the Jedi: Vortex by Troy Denning
Fate of the Jedi: Conviction by Aaron Allston
Fate of the Jedi: Ascension by Christie Golden
Fate of the Jedi: Apocalypse by Troy Denning

I will update this list as I listen to additional series and include it in my reviews for future reference.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Star Wars?

The first book in the series is a good one. The only thing I don't like is how the Jedi have become more flippant and less reserved in their dealings. I have always envisioned the Jedi as wise and careful with words. Seeing them act and speak on emotion is odd. I am not saying it is a bad thing, just different. The series seems like it will be a good one. I will sum up my review on the final book.

What about Marc Thompson’s performance did you like?

What is there to say about Marc Thompson... He is a legendary narrator. I have heard no better.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Outcast

    Any additional comments?

Audible wont let me link it, but a good reference guide to make sure you are listening to all the series in order is wookiepedia. It would be nice if Audible had them all in order, but they don't.

What would have made Star Wars better?

The story lacked any real menace. A view in to a darker set of characters would have improved this story immensely.

What was most disappointing about Aaron Allston’s story?

Boring. I found myself not caring about what happened to most of the characters. There was no connection between the story lines.

"Fantastic continuation of the Skywalker story."

Can't wait to finish this series. Ben really started to grow on me in this novel. Very excited to start the next book! Highly recommended to fans interested in what Jacen Solo learned and experienced in his travels before becoming Darth Caedus.

"It's like a Clone Wars cartoon"
What did you like best about Star Wars? What did you like least?

I was overall unsatisfied with this story. It felt like an episode of the SCI Clone Wars. It felt overall pointless. Minor grievances among too-relaxed jedi. Rather short and uninteresting.

What could Aaron Allston have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I was left wondering what the point was at the end of the book. I know there are a lot more in the series, but I do not think I will continue since the first did not grip me.

What about Marc Thompson’s performance did you like?

He had a lot a voices. But I could have done without his kid mimicry.

Was Star Wars worth the listening time?

    No.

    "Very Good."

The narration is excellent and Thompson really recreates the Star Wars characters.
The musical accompaniment adds to the book incredibly.
I enjoyed the story, it built quickly and holds the action all the way until the end. It is a great read.
