In a shocking move, Chief of State Natasi Daala orders the arrest of Luke Skywalker for failing to prevent Jacen Solo's turn to the dark side and his subsequent reign of terror as a Sith Lord. But it's only the first blow in an anti-Jedi backlash fueled by a hostile government and suspicious public. When Jedi Knight Valin Horn, scion of a politically influential family, suffers a mysterious psychotic break and becomes a dangerous fugitive, the Jedi become the target of a media-driven witch hunt. Facing conviction on the damning charges, Luke must strike a bargain with the calculating Daala: his freedom in exchange for his exile from Coruscant and from the Jedi Order.
Though forbidden to intervene in Jedi affairs, Luke is determined to keep history from being repeated. With his son, Ben, at his side, Luke sets out to unravel the shocking truth behind Jacen Solo's corruption and downfall. But the secrets he uncovers among the enigmatic Force mystics of the distant world Dorin may bring his quest and life as he knows it to a sudden end. And all the while, another Jedi Knight, consumed by the same madness as Valin Horn, is headed for Coruscant on a fearsome mission that could doom the Jedi Order and devastate the entire galaxy.

Can't wait to finish this series. Ben really started to grow on me in this novel. Very excited to start the next book! Highly recommended to fans interested in what Jacen Solo learned and experienced in his travels before becoming Darth Caedus.
I was overall unsatisfied with this story. It felt like an episode of the SCI Clone Wars. It felt overall pointless. Minor grievances among too-relaxed jedi. Rather short and uninteresting.
I was left wondering what the point was at the end of the book. I know there are a lot more in the series, but I do not think I will continue since the first did not grip me.
He had a lot a voices. But I could have done without his kid mimicry.
The narration is excellent and Thompson really recreates the Star Wars characters.
The musical accompaniment adds to the book incredibly.
I enjoyed the story, it built quickly and holds the action all the way until the end. It is a great read.
There are too many stories going on at once. I would have just stuck with one and gone with it. Most likely i wont read the rest of the series.
The story was too predictable. I did not enjoy it all. The only thing I liked was the end.
No. Writing style was boring and unimaginative.
The story was narrated well, but the voices were to far from the original characters that I found myself not buying into the story because of it.
The political drama involved was overwhelming and brought the story down. Not enough action for a Star Wars novel I thought.
Title says it all, Mark does an excellent job.
Not the best Star Wars story ever but it was good.
A better story.
The solo grandchild
This book could have been ok, but there were very long stretches of the book that were irrelevant.
