Publisher's summary

Eric Riordan was once a wealthy man leading a comfortable, easy life. Until one day Gabriel, his oldest friend, Marine Corps veteran, and a former mercenary, told him how the world was going to end.

He did his best to prepare. He thought he was ready for anything.

He was wrong.

As the dead rise up to devour the living, one man finds himself struggling to survive in the ruins of a shattered world. Alone, isolated, and facing starvation, his only chance is to flee to the Appalachians and join forces with Gabriel. But the journey will not be easy, and along the way his humanity, his will to live, and his very soul will be tested.

This is the beginning. This is his story.

Good Read

Pretty good! Yeah I liked it. Not as good as the remaining series, but definitely want to continue the series so far.
The only thing I didn't like was the narrator's voice for the character Justin. He makes Justin sound like Keanu Reeves if he was under the influence of drugs. LOL, it's pretty irritating. Other than that, I liked it.

Great First Book to an Exciting Apocalyptic Series

After the first book, I cannot wait to start the 2nd book. This is an exciting Zombie Apocalypse book series and it is an adventure. In comparison, this series is on par with Mark Tufo Zombie Fallout series & also D.J. Molles The Remaining series.

I actually prefer Surviving the Dead series than Zombie Fallout by Tufo. So far, it is a toss up between this series and The Remaining by D.J. Molles. Both series are interesting & exciting in their own way.

If you enjoy an adventurous zombie apocalypse type series, I would highly recommend this series because it is entertaining in so many ways.

Epic zombie novel.

James Cook helps set the standard for zombie novels, which are my guilty pleasure. I've read all kinds from all sorts of different authors but the tale that James Cook begins here and takes through several continuing books is a step up. They are all worth the purchase. I believe I've been through each of them at least a few times now. The narration is pretty excellent too. You won't be dissatisfied.

Zombies ... Again ... But that's okay.

Any additional comments?

This is another zombie story. That being said it is not all zombie. The survival information presented is a little more realistic. Everybody's view of the zombie apocalypse is going to be different and I think that Mr. Cook has done a reasonable job at presenting a more believable scenario that doesn't require magical escapes every other or every third page and doesn't present the protagonist as essentially immortal. Every zombie book requires some suspension of belief, this book does not require over much of it and is better than most in the genre.

A good listen!

Where does No Easy Hope rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would say this book ranks mid to high for zombie stories for me. 7.5 out of 10

Any additional comments?

Worth the credit. The second book is also good. I can't wait for the third book to be released. The only negative thing would be the timeline seems to slow way down at a few points. It could be a long series but that would be cool with me.

A bit bland

What did you like best about No Easy Hope? What did you like least?

I like the way the author engaged the concept of survival.
I disliked the interhuman communication. It seemed staged and unrealistic.
The story is too clean; it lacks grit.

What was one of the most memorable moments of No Easy Hope?

Nothing stands out.

Would you be willing to try another one of Guy Williams’s performances?

Sure.

Do you think No Easy Hope needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Not really.

Any additional comments?

I listened to the book as a pastime, but was not engaged.
The narration was lacking. Every other male character sounded like a surfer-dude-stoner, and every other female like a valley-girl.
The story is almost good.

Great book, ok narrator.

Any additional comments?

The narrator could've been better. The book is based in North Carolina but many of the women voices sounded like valley girls. That being said the book was great. It's the general zombie story but the characters are intriguing and well written. Gun descriptions are good but not over the top for those of us ladies not as interested in the exact caliper of round needed for each weapon! I will be buying the next 2 books that are available so far and will be on the lookout for more from this author.
