Accountant turned professional monster hunter Owen Zastava Pitt managed to stop the nefarious Old Ones' invasion plans last year, but as a result made an enemy out of one of the most powerful beings in the universe. Now an evil death cult known as the Church of the Temporary Mortal Condition wants to capture Owen in order to gain the favor of the great Old Ones. The Condition is led by a fanatical necromancer known as the Shadow Man. The government wants to capture the Shadow Man and has assigned the enigmatic Agent Franks to be Owen's full-time bodyguard, which is a polite way of saying that Owen is monster bait.
With supernatural assassins targeting his family, a spy in their midst, and horrific beasties lurking around every corner, Owen and the staff of Monster Hunter International don't need to go hunting, because this time the monsters are hunting them. Fortunately, this bait is armed and very dangerous.

"This lighthearted, testosterone-soaked sequel to 2009's Monster Hunter International will delight fans of action horror with elaborate weaponry, hand-to-hand combat, disgusting monsters, and an endless stream of blood and body parts." (Publishers Weekly)
Oliver Wyman completely nails the performance for all the characters. Larry developed characters that are very multi dimensional. pun intended. From Dorkus to Holly, Trip and Grant there is a lot going on. Oliver makes it all come alive with his well thought interpretations.
a resounding well done to all involved.
Monster Hunter is an interesting series, given how unlovely the main protagonist is. He's a dysfunctional, anti-authoritarian manchild with staggering anger management issues and an inability to see nuance in any situation.
Having said that, the series still works because the supporting characters are excellent - well fleshed out and interesting. The story line holds your attention throughout, and Oliver Wyman is one of the best narrators on Audible.
Ignore the main character's many shortcomings, and this is a series which rewards 😀
I loved Monster Hunter International so much I read it twice when I first got it. This was an amazing continuation of the original story. Oliver Wyman does an amazing job narrating and brining life to such original characters.
Corriea takes a story through so many cool and unexpected turns, with so much passion and excitement, you cannot stop listening. Oliver Wyman is other worldly in how he creates a veritable crew of voices for all the different characters. Simply Amazing. Larry sure knows how to create great characters you care about, and makes them so human, but what makes the listening so compelling is Olivers ability to act and bring the characters to vivid life.
King of France and Buccaneer. Or maybe I'm just a farm brewer....
The characters are still as likable as in the first book, while the story always moves forward (with barely a moment to catch one's breath!). This is a book I couldn't put down!
This was a wonderful listen. I love the narrator's voices, and the special effects that he does. The story is so well woven, and the characters really alive and loveable, even if you hate them.
