Publisher's summary

A new heart-pounding, suspenseful, and supremely romantic novel from New York Times best seller Mia Sheridan.

When wilderness guide Harper Ward is summoned to the small town sheriff's office in Helena Springs, Montana, to provide assistance on a case, she is shocked to find that their only suspect in the double murder investigation is a man described as a savage.

But the longer she watches the man known only as Lucas, on the station surveillance camera, the more intrigued she becomes. He certainly looks primitive with his unkempt appearance and animal skin attire, but she also sees intelligence in his eyes, sensitivity in his expression. Who is he? And how is it possible that he's lived alone in the forest since he was a small child?

As secrets begin to emerge, Harper is thrust into something bigger and more diabolical than she ever could have imagined. And standing right at the center of it all is Lucas. But is he truly the wild man he appears to be? A cold-blooded killer? An innocent victim? Or a perplexing mix of all three?

Harper must find out the answers to these questions, because the more time she spends with him, the more she risks losing her heart.

A great story, and a outstanding performance!

I've read so many books, and met so many characters, but nothing like this one. There's a message about strength, survival, forgiveness and redemption, but also about hope and love found in the most unusual circumstances. I enjoyed the prose, the complexity this is characters, the beautiful setting and the suspense. But above all those things, I loved the references and quotes about The Count of Monte Cristo. The narration was spectacular! The way the narrators portrayed the characters, their emotions, it was amazing and I loved it! It was my first time listening to a Christian Fox and/or Chelsea Hatfield audiobook, and I think they are incredible in their job.Looking forward for more of their performances.

I'm going to recommend this book to anyone who ask

This book was completely enthralling for me. You can feel the instantaneous connection between Harper and Jack, but Mia Sheridan didn't rush it. Its like that sensation when you first meet someone and there is something about them that you find attractive, but you just take note of it and keep on moving. Unlike other romance books, where the character meet and the relationship is rushed from there. Harper and Jack is a slow, intense, burn. Jack wants her, an animalistic logic to it, that is sweet and true. Harper is drawn to him, and as certain situations come up, they keep pulling her to him. The connect between them is true, real, and without any drama between them. If you are like me, I don't care for the drama that comes from turbulence in the relationship, and that never happens here.

There is a mystery mixed within the story (75% mystery & 25% romance) that connects the two. Its beautifully well written, and I found it fascinating to find out what connected Harper and Jack next. I strongly recommend this book.

BTW: This is not a PNR. I normally read PNRs, and when I saw the term "mate" in the description, I thought "what the hell". I was not disappointing in reading this, though, and I think I'm going to get my husband to read it too after he finished the series he is reading now.

Engaging, unique story

This is not your typical romance novel. There was adventure and unexpected twists and turns. The story was engaging and entertaining.

OMG! I loved this story!!

I always love Mia Sheridan's love stories, they are always unique, let's us see into new perspectives and not the same romance story we see time and time again. I ABSOLUTELY loved these characters - Jack and Harper and even the Gallagher's...I loved them all. Christian Fox is amazing! One of my favorite narrators and Chelsea Hatfield is new to me, but I loved her narration too! Love, Love, Love this book and can't recommend it enough.

Really good but little disturbin

I love this book and its storyline. This book has many unexpected turn of events and really well thought characters. This is true suspense romance. If you like that then this is book for you. Some things in this book are disturbin but that is the point of suspence I quess. Just heads up for the light reading fans out there.

Great Book

This book inspired my faith in goodness in mankind, but also brought a reminder that the opposite is always present. Good verses evil, one cannot be fully realized without the other. Like Harper’s enlightened moment before the jump at the falls, realization and our choices help make us who we are. Like Jaks there are many facets to who we are. A great read with good narration.
