Publisher's summary

A gripping fast-paced novella from the multi-million-selling author of the John Milton series.

In the city of Cairo, a sandstorm is coming.

Group Fifteen operative and ex-MI6 officer Charlie Cooper is working undercover as a political negotiator. Attending a conference surrounded by diplomats, businessmen, and lobbyists, nobody would suspect what he really does for a living. Also in their midst is Aisha, a Saudi activist whose protests against human rights abuses have made her an enemy of her country's regime.

It isn't just Cooper visiting Cairo under false pretenses. A hit squad has been sent to eliminate Aisha and their reputation precedes them. Cooper knows all too well that these men mean business and is given the order to take them out. But when he is told to use Aisha as bait, he starts to question what he is doing.

The hunt is on and the sandstorm is heading their way. Can Cooper eliminate the assassins before they reach Aisha? Can he keep her safe from harm without any means of escape?

too short

not worth the cost, way too short, not very good either. wish better tags by audible in these stories, apparently having gay characters is a requirement now. if it keeps up i will start returning books.

Very short story introducing Charlie Cooper

Apparently this is a new series spin off, but to be honest, I'm a bit confused.

Charlie Cooper is Number 11 in The Group. For those of us that have followed John Milton, we are very aware of The Group and their numbers. What confuses me is that in this novella, John Milton is back in The Group as Number 1. So, we are talking a while ago because lots and lots has happened since John was Number 1.

Why is that important? It isn't really, it just confused me. Why start a new series so far in the past? And not to get too deep on this, but in the current timeline when John is fighting against the people trying to kill him from The Group, is Charlie involved? Obviously, they met and worked together so they are aware of each other. Ugh, I'm making this too complicated.

Let me just say this. This was a very short story that introduced us to Charlie Cooper. He seems like a nice guy. The story was not too complicated and the storyline had a quick resolution. I listened to this on audio and while I generally like David Thorpe, I could NOT STAND the way he did the voice of Ziggy. Again, Ziggy is a character that we have come to know and love in the John Milton series and he NEVER sounded like that in my mind.

Okay....all done.
