Publisher's summary

John Milton thought he could run forever. He was wrong.

For years, former secret service agent and trained killer John Milton thought he could outrun his past, his demons, and his enemies. His enemies had other ideas.

Captured and imprisoned by the organization he once worked for, Milton must do one last job in exchange for his freedom. Bullheaded billionaire fixer Tristan Huxley is brokering a weapons deal between Russia and India. He needs protection, and he wants Milton by his side. Huxley has trusted Milton with his life before, but these days his world is more decadent and his enemies more dangerous, in ways that nobody could ever have suspected.

Finally, the man who thought he'd never be forgiven has the chance to wipe the slate clean, once and for all. But is it really a case of no more running for Milton? Can the Group be trusted to keep their word and let him go? And who is it that really needs protecting?

After all, nobody is bulletproof, not even John Milton.

Great read - one of my favorite yet

The author Mark Dawson has really dialed it in with his characters in recent years. He’s always done a good job with John Milton but he’s seemed to be making a concerted effort to show the humanity of other characters, especially those still serving in Milton’s old organization.

now we need the movies.

I strongly believe that Scott Adkins would best plau the role of Milton. Please make it happen.

Milton’s world is consistently interesting and exciting

Dawson never fails to satisfy; the story feels fresh; no repetition, my interest is steady. Keep it up Dawson…
Mr. Thorpe…keep it up, too!

One of the best so far...

I love this series and Mark Dawson hasn't missed a beat with this latest installment. John Milton is a fantastic character with interesting insights and lovable attributes. He's also trying to atone for his killer past. Makes for great entertainment. Narration was perfect. Can't wait for the next one

Complex story well done

Somehow after all these books Dawson keeps it interesting.
David Thorpe is a good but not great narrator but he is definitely the voice of John Milton.

Fabulous as always....

Sadly, we have to wait for the next narrative to be written. This happens when you discover the series in July and find the stories and character so compelling that you burn through all but the yet to be written in a few months time.

Fortunately Mark is a bit faster than Lee at producing the next in the series and both narrators add so much to the narrative that they are as important as the Actual text itself.
