Publisher's summary

Wicked intrigue unfolds as an unlikely marriage leads to a path of risky desire in the lush, green Scottish Highlands.

Born into riches and groomed in English luxury, Margot Armstrong didn't belong in a Scottish chieftain's devil-may-care world. Three years ago she fled their marriage of convenience and hasn't looked back - except to relive the moments spent in wild, rugged Arran McKenzie's passionate embrace. But as their respective countries' fragile unity threatens to unravel, Margot must return to her husband to uncover his role in the treachery before her family can be accused of it.

Red-haired, green-eyed Margot was Arran's beautiful bride. Her loss has haunted him, but her return threatens everything he has gained. As the Highland mists carry whispers of an English plot to seize McKenzie territory, he must outmaneuver her in games of espionage - and seduction. But even as their secrets tangle together, there's nothing to prevent love from capturing them both and leading them straight into danger.

First book I haven’t finished in a long time.

Unfortunately, the author beat the point of Margo needing forgiveness to death. There never really was a reason that Aaron could fall in love with her, it seemed that everything she did was simply “the worst” and “unforgivable.” I really do hate a groveling heroine, it seemed that she could never catch a break.

If Aaron loved her so much when they were first married, why did he never go after her? In my opinion the true hero of a book would have gone after the woman that he loved, even if she left him after four months of marriage. I honestly couldn’t take the strange back-and-forth a minute longer, I had about three hours left and I marked it as finished.

I really don’t understand anyone who could give this book a five star review. You can literally read any other Scottish historical romance and get so much more satisfaction from another books characters and plot. It’s like the author had no other ideas except for, “I think the heroine needs to gravel on the floor the entire time, and the hero thumbs his nose down at her, but secretly loves her.”

Derik Perkins is a gem, and I have heard him in far better works than this.

In the end, I would try a different book, I’m still in shock that it was so insufferably bad.

Sexy, highland romance!

The narrator is just as important as the author for me in audio book so when I find a great combination, I'm hooked! This is a story where you really see the characters grow and mature before they find happiness. I liked how the lead evolved from a spoiled brat to a thoughtful woman. This is Highland Grooms, Book 1. Looking forward to Book 2!

Just horrible

It’s a ‘he hates her, holds her accountable for every problem, ignores her, uses her for sex’ type book. She’s an airhead, truly an idiot. I’m supposed to be thankful he forgives her in the end. Yikes! Like Derek Perkins tho. It deserves a minus 5 because I expect more from this author.

Scottish Romance

If you want a man in a kilt and naive woman in a ball gown, this is your book. Loved it!

Predictable but still enjoyable

Any additional comments?

I think Julia London's earlier books were braver, more interesting, with characters that wern't so wishy washy

Good story

Rather confusing at first, but it turned out very intriguing. Love Julie books, she spins a good tale.

Heroine was a bit of a pain in the bum but nonetheless a good story. Worth a credit!
