This duet seduced me!

Holy cow this was soooo good. I love these 2 books. I've read close to 200 books and can say that this duet is in my top 10! Caleb and Livie's story has love, lust, BDSM, suspense, action and a great story. I mean a very great story. And yes I loved the side story of Reese.

And you thought Fifty Shades was fu$$ed up!

I can't help it, I loved this creepy, grotesque, revolting book! Intense is too mild a word to describe this story. Fifty Shades is playtime compared to this. Like Fifty this book is the evolution of Caleb from the dark to the light and it really works. Violent and very explicit sex scenes here...not for the squeamish!

Would you listen to Seduced in the Dark again? Why?

Yes. The content of this book is dark but I love how the author (C. J. Roberts) took on a subject that unfortunately takes place in our world and didn't make it "pretty". I can't read books with vampires and the shape changers because I struggle with how could that possibly happen. I know it is fantasy. You can follow the ups and downs of the characters. Emily Durante is talented.

What did you love best about Seduced in the Dark?

The climax of the story was really wonderful! I felt the book ended a bit abruptly, but I guess that's why there's an epilogue.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Seduced in the Dark?

Finding out Caleb's past.

Which scene was your favorite?

I don't want to give it away, but as I said before, I enjoyed the climax of the story very much.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not hardly!! But I should have taken more days than I did. My kids got shooed away all too often.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed book one more than this one, only because of the writing style. It was more intense to be in one world, Caleb and Kitten's world, than it was to go back and forth between that and Livvy telling the story to FBI agents. On the one hand, it was the same as the first book, without knowing why we would go from 1st person narrative (when we were listening to Livvy's POV) to 3rd person when we got more of Caleb's plight. I didn't care for the FBI agents' side story at all. It seemed unnecessary. These are the only two reasons I took away stars. I really enjoyed the series and the narrator.

I wanted to hate this book but I couldn't put it down . I was so taken with this story. And I found myself wanting them to prevail. great story .

good story but

the overall story line was great but a bit too forty for my tastes, kind of extreme. Not a book to listen to while in public, it feels like everyone can hear what you are listening to. Uncomfortable but great two books, will be buying the next one

Book one was ok. Book two blew me out of the water! Well written! Well written!

Illicit sex acts...revenge

Seduced in the Dark did not begin where Captive in the Dark ended. In fact, Book 2 began on August 30, 2009 which was confusing considering no timeline was used in book 1. It took some to acclimate to this new process. Once I established a rhythm I found it worked quite well.

Narrator: Emily Durante. The same narrator who performed Captive in the Dark does the same solo performance of excellence. Emily brought this story and all its characters to life. I originally read this book back in 2014 and decided to invest in the audiobook. I’m glad I revisited this story because the details were a little fuzzy. With the help of Emily voicing all these characters with unique tones and sounds helped separate the many characters. Emily spoke in Arabic, Russian, and Spanish. She flawlessly performed both male and female characters using accents.
Given that this was a sexually driven story with some very graphic scenes I felt Emily performed them with the upmost professionalism.

Story: When revenge and forgiveness meet, the kitten and the dog become unlikely allies. Together they take down the militant weapon trafficking and human trafficking pigs.
The story focused on elements of trust, loyalty, obedience, and revenge. Olivia’s character remained a fighter despite Caleb humiliating her. For someone as young and naive as Olivia I found her strength to be quite impressive. Her most impressive quality was how easily she forgave given the circumstances Caleb put her through. He managed to push her away while she continued to pull towards him.

Overall: This story evokes different types of feelings from me than book 1. The mood was completely different from book 1. Less emphasis on the training and more emphasis on the dynamics between Caleb and Livvie. I wasn’t expecting the story to move in the direction it did with an investigation, yet I appreciated how CJ interspersed details from the past within the investigated scenes incorporating the progress with each transgression.
I liked how CJ took a different approach on the topic of sex slaves. The characters chosen in the sex play were strong individuals. CJ gave me plenty to think about on the issues of dominance versus submissiveness during sex play.
There are many ways in which I can identify this story. One type of trope is the forbidden relationship between a slave trainer and his slave. It can also be classified as a push/pull type of trope. I would even venture to label it a
Love/hate relationship. Then there’s the age difference which isn’t really addressed yet it’s stated that Olivia is eighteen and Caleb having grey hair indicates he is much older. Finally, the last label is that of the unconventional and unconditional type.

Ok... this is my review for book 1 and 2:

I expected so much more... Yes, this is supposed to be this dark romance and brutal and stuff like that...

Yes there was beatings and mean Caleb...but how are you supposed to get the evil mentallity of Caleb, if you fall in love with him from like Chapter 2! Seriously...nothing Caleb did to me was evil...you can tell he was in love with his prisoner from like day 1.

I really didn't like the fact that Caleb and Olivia didn't have more smex moments either.

Don't get me wrong...YES this is Credit worthy... 100% .... but... I have listen to darker romance... and this is supposed to be dark... I really didn't feel the dark side of this all that much.. It was good...It could have been better... and the ending.. Come ON! Give me more please..

Narration was superb! Emily Durante had great male voice I think.. Olivia's voice was a little young... yes she was 18, but still... 18yr olds don't sound like 10yr olds... SO.. It was good...could have been better...

Can't wait for Epilogue!!!
