Highland romance at its best.

This is a great Highlander romance. If you're in the mood for a damsel in distress type of book, which sometimes I am, this is a good one to get. I loved Ghram and totally want him to be made flesh and blood, not just a figment of my imagination. He was so sweet and tough at the same time. I will also admit the story had me in tears a few times. The author did a great job making me empathetic towards the characters, yet at the same time pissed off at all the asshole clansmen for their behavior. Maya Banks as an author is sometimes a hit or miss for me. While admittedly I haven't read much by her and what I have read most has been good. A few that were not so great, but still not too bad. Since Audible doesn't have this whole series, I will probably just wait to get the next book on a sale. Narrator does a good job.

Romantic, refreshing, different

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that the main female character had an adversity to overcome and not just the same ol' my family hates yours. I've listened to the book twice and enjoyed it both times.

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

Definitely seduced by a Scot!

This was the 3rd or 4th time I've listened to this book, and I STILL Love it! It's a seductive story of trials, strife, tragedy, deception, love, joy happiness, violence and the overall fight just to fit in. With incredible characters dealing with incredible stories this novel takes every thing we love about a hunky highlander romance and wraps it up in a dramatic story that steals your heart. This is a "all at once" book that grabs and holds your attention from start to finish. Five stars is not enough!

NARRATOR: Kirsten Potter is a highly talented narrator who gives a performance with total mastery. Her characters are such strong individuals each so distinct that you'd swear they were actually all there giving us the performance that brings this excellent novel to life.

Enchanting storyline, great characters and heartfelt connections! I truly enjoyed this scottish historical love story!

What an amazing story.Two feuding clans forced by their king to align their clans with marriage between Graehm and Evaline.In order to prevent an unwanted marriage between herself and Ewen MacHugh,Evaline deceives her kin by pretending an accident caused her to be addled,in truth she is deaf,but the deceptive knowledge doesn’t prevent the king from decreeing her clan and the Greahm’s clan by merging through marriage.Graehm learns his little wife’s deception and reasoning behind it.He no longer feels the need to protect his wife from his lustful thoughts,she will become his wife in truth.With other deceptions within his own clan,causing friction,hatred and despair,Evaline gets abducted by the one man she spent three years fearing.Together the two clans unite to save their precious Evaline and bring justice to any who have harmed her.Great narration.

Great book!

This is one of the best books I’ve listened to in a long time! The storyline was interesting and kept me engaged from the very beginning! I can’t wait to start on the next book!

In all honesty, this book is now in my top 5. I plan on buying a hard copy too.
It's one of the sweetest, romantic, and love-filled books I've read in ages.
I'm a historical , romance, Scotland loving old gal & this book ticks all the boxes.
And I just discovered it is book one in a series.
And I'm not a professional reviewer.
It's just a damn good story.
