Audie Award Nominee, Romance, 2013

Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her "touched." Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn't speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty -unprepared for the delights to come. Graeme is a rugged warrior with a voice so deep and powerful that his new bride can hear it, and hands and kisses so tender and skilled that he stirs her deepest passions. Graeme is intrigued by the mysterious Eveline, whose silent lips are ripe with temptation and whose bright, intelligent eyes can see into his soul. As intimacy deepens, he learns her secret. But when clan rivalries and dark deeds threaten the wife he has only begun to cherish, the Scottish warrior will move heaven and earth to save the woman who has awakened his heart to the beautiful song of a rare and magical love.

BEST OF BANKS

Would you listen to Never Seduce a Scot again? Why?

Oh yes, It was a fantastic trip back to 11th century Scotland. The characters are fantastic.
The heroine Eveline Armstrong is a combination of maidenly innocence, and bold as brass stubborn.
The hero Graeme is the Laird of the Montgomery clan. They have been betrothed to each other by order of King Alexander II. Seems totally fine for this time period, so what the problem??? Well these clans HATE each other, the King wants peace so he makes this decree.

Both clans are livid: the Armstrong's, because they believe that Eveline is not in charge of her faculties,( from an accident she had years before) They fear she has no idea what is expected of a wife
However Eveline is totally aware of what is going on, but she allows her clan to believe she is "adled" in order to escape a marriage to an sociopath...(best way to describe the guy)
The Montgomery's believe the KIng has made it impossible for the Montgomery clan to carry on because Graeme has no intention of having a "true" marriage to the "touched" Armstrong girl, therefore no Montgomery heir!

Eveline's only disability is that she is hearing impaired, and has taught herself to read lips.
She marries Graeme, and begins to win him, and his brothers over. The clan however is a little harder.....

What did you like best about this story?

The relationship between Graeme and Eveline, and Eveline and Graeme's little sister Rorie

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

She is fantastic, her narration, and accents are excellent.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was a very emotional story, of a girl tring to fit into a world that cannot cope with disabilities, and her determination to change her life and they way people view her.

Any additional comments?

So worth the credit,, Can't wait for book 2.

Great story, never before read topic...

I’ve never read a romance, historical or otherwise, that had a deaf main character. Being hard of hearing myself, and having access within the deaf community, it was interesting. Ive actually had this book in my library for some time, but have been putting it off because I couldn’t imagine how deafness would be incorporated into a historical romance. Turns out, it can be done very nicely, not entirely accurately (in my opinion. I am hard of hearing and lip read, but I can hear sounds to correlate with the lip movements to help me to discern whats being said. It works most of the time, but not always. I do not believe that someone could lose their hearing completely and learn to fully lip read in a couple years with no sound, or sign, to help.) but its fiction so who cares. Thats the thing about fiction thats great. You take the impossible and make it possible. I loved it, and am going to go ahead and get the next one in the series. I’m sad to see that, at this time, people have been waiting for the third book as its been put off over and over again. But, Maya Banks is notorious for having this problem. We just have to accept it and hope it's soon.
Kristen Potter was great. Shes not a superb “actress” but she has a lovely, soothing voice that’s nice to listen to. She does a nice Scottish accent.

Dear Miss Banks, SEQUEL PLEASE!!!!

When Graeme Montgomery is forced to wed Eveline Armstrong by decree of the king he thinks his life is over. Not only is her clan his mortal enemy but he fears she is not mentally competent to be any mans wife, let alone a suitable bride for him. Despite her handicap he marries her anyway and is loving and kind, but soon he finds deception is all around them in many forms. Can they reunite their clans to fight the evil that surrounds them or will it be to late?

Excellent story! I listened for hours at a time because I just didn't want to stop listening. The narrator is not my favorite but that's subjective, all in all I think she did a pretty good job. The accents were not my favorite but the story line is so riveting that you cease to care after awhile.

Well worth a credit or even paying for the book to listen to it because it seems to come alive while your listening. I am crossing my fingers for sequel!

Maya Banks is very good with the Scot thing!

Great characters! Great Story! I think it could have used a bit more love scenes personally, and it took a little too long to get to the romantic aspect of the these two, but I understand why. Graham thought Eveline was daft or crazy, but when they find out she wasn't, boy did he fall super hard. Well he was falling hard already, but when he knew it was ok for him to be with his wife, like a husband and wife... the man took on his whole clan! Loved it.

Yes, Yes, Yes, -5 stars-This is a great book!

I love stories about sexy and strong HIghlanders. Gram gets my approval in this story. I was hooked from the start. Its heart warming and just so touching. Even though he was forced into to an impossibe situation. He treated he bride to be with respect and it was so much fun watching (or listening) them fall in love and discover each other. The love scenes are done so tastfully and on a scale of 1 to 10, it rate it a 10. The narration really added to the story, it just draws you in. I can't wait to find the next book in this series. I love books and I totally get excited when I find a new author that I can get into. Maya Banks & Kristen Potter together is a winner! I am about to listen to this one again right now!

LOVED IT!

I love the magic of the highlands! I love Maya Banks, I love her adventures in Scotland , and more over the novelty of her characters that she used in this book. It's not your ordinary highland hero or heroine . It was something novel , new, and very very capturing. I liked the narration as well, not so think Scottish that you do to understand, just the right tone and accent to make it universally understandable.
Very nice, and I'll be waiting for her next book :)
Go get it you will not regret it!

Well worth the listen!

Any additional comments?

Maya Banks is a master story teller, and when she puts her pen to historical romance, you can bet it will be a winner. This story of Eveline Armstrong and Graeme Montgomery is no exception.

The setting is Scotland, rife with clan fighting and intricate politics. In an effort to settle the strife between clans, Eveline and Graeme are ordered to marry, despite the animosity between their clans. Needless to say, neither is thrilled about the alliance. Eveline lost her hearing in an accident, but she has allowed everyone to believe the accident caused her to be "daft." in order to escape another arranged marriage to an evil suitor. But there is no escaping the order to marry Graeme. So she is faced with marriage to a man she cannot communicate with, and who believes she is crazy. Graeme dreads marriage to a woman who is "daft", but he is an honorable man who is determined to keep his vows.

The supporting cast of characters is just as well developed as the hero and heroine. The reader grows to love Graems sister and gruff brothers, and to hate the vengeful Montgomery clans people who torment Eveline. And Graeme's innate honorability and protective instincts allow him to see past the facade that Eveline has hidden behind to find the very smart and lively woman that lies benieath. In time, he comes to realize that she is perfectly sane, and is merely deaf! Their growing relationship blossoms into an epic love! Of course!

Kirsten Potter is a delightful narrator. Her Scottish accents help to immerse you in Scotland. I would give her 5 stars except I have a secret prejudice for having my romances read by men. Sorry, my bad! Ms. Potter is truly a very good narrator!

Fantastic!

This book was great. The love between these two individuals was beautifully portrayed. There were several parts that kept me on the edge of my seat as well. The narrator's Scottish accent was on point. I highly recommend this audio book!!!
