Publisher's summary

Someone would see Ilsabeth Murray Armstrong hang for murder.

When her dagger is found buried in the body of one of the king's men, there is little room for doubt-the perpetrator must pay with her life. But Ilsabeth is no killer, and only one person can help clear her name: Sir Simon Innes, a man so steely and cool that no danger can rattle him…and no woman in distress can sway his heart.

Until now. Simon has spent his life searching for truth in a world fraught with deception. But the hauntingly beautiful fugitive seeking his aid affects him so deeply, he wonders if he can trust the flawless judgment he has always relied on. For all signs point to Ilsabeth's guilt, except one - the unparalleled desire he feels at her slightest touch.

Contains mature themes.

Six Year Old Reed Burns, Breaks Your Heart

Audible Escape. This author knows how to tell a tale. Each and every story IS different, but hold the endearing qualities of a well told tale. Hero’s are hero’s, Heroines meet the day and persevere whether they are head strong or have suffer abuse but over come it. I have unfortunately read way out of order, and now have to play catch up with some of the characters. Author does know when to cluster the characters/stories together so you do not lose the thread of them.
This is Simon’s, the Kings man, story of how after helping Tourmount Murray and Calium Murray MacMillan, finds his own lass in murderous trouble. When our heroine meets young Reed and shares her bread and cheese makes you want to weep too.
I have come to realize this author tells 3 different adventures within a story in the ladder books eg 21, 19, 11
I love Ms Dawe in all of this series narrations, she brings you right into the Highlands be it on pony or horseback. Love book 10, Sigmore story, top 5. Her male and children’s voice steal your heart.
I do use 1.25x speed to match the adventure. Give it a try.

Highland Protector

This is the 17th book in the Murray family series. And Simon's story of love. Ilsabeth is in a lot of trouble someone has used her knife in a way that was not to be used. She is on the run, as a nun. With two little ones she has picked up on the way to Sir Simon's abode for help. But will he be able to untwist the mystery before she is hung for a crime she did not do? Even her own fiance is not on her side. What happens when all is lost? Even a kings man can not always be in all places at the same time. I enjoyed the narration of this books as much as all the others in this series.

A time to meet and learn more about Simon Innes - a foine mon to know.

I was so glad to learn that Simon had his own book. When he was introduced in Tormand’s story I really wanted to know more about him. He, too, seemed like a good person to get to know. He seemed like a good man but with hidden secrets which were fundamental in the development of his personality. His childhood was awful and his father and his older brother were the causes of his awful experiences as he grew. Leaving home at an early age and having to fend for himself allowed him to develop into a warrior of note and gave him the principles by which he lived his life. Enter Ilsabeth, a young woman who finds much to her chagrin she is in need of help and protection. Her father sends her to Simon hoping he can give her the help and protection she needs. And their stories take off from there … and it is a great ride with an excellent narrator, again. This book has adventure, lust, love, mystery, terrific characters, adorable children and a very satisfying ending.

The Hound

Simon & Ilsabeth
Simon a Kings man and a person we have seen in several books. One who has helped the Murrays in the past. Now we see Cormac and ilsbeth once again, for now their daughter has been accused of murder and Simon must solve the puzzle. It is funny story for the Cormac and Tormund are hilarious. It’s a great story! Start at the beginning of the series!
