Interesting and Different

I love a bit of mystery with an unusual twist -- and abit of romance. The key being "abit" of romance --- no overt throbbing manhoods with heaving breasts!! I prefer romance, some sex and characters that think (as much as sci-fi//harlequin can)!! This book met my criteria-- I will follow through on the series.

great listen

I enjoyed the story being told . It was strong enough to keep my interest all the to the end.

I loved this audio book, well written, fast paced and brilliantly narrated!

If you love a good fantasy story that is filled with danger, mind blowing revelations, interesting characters, plot twists, a little lust and a smart brave female lead the this fits the bill, but it gets better... I can't compliment the narrator enough for her stellar reading of this book... I couldn't even tell where she took a break, the audio quality is excellent, her voice is clear and easy to listen to and she pulled off all the accents and even the male roles brilliantly. Eve brought the story to life. Well done I say as I pull out my credit card to buy the next book. I recommend it.

Il loved it!

Loved this book when I first read it, and am thrilled to find it on audible! I had forgotten so much of the suspenseful plot.
Fascinating characters in an underworld of magic hidden in the shadows of our world.

Good

Good, but not great. Needs more character development for me. I love the idea of a gargoyle romance, though. The world can use more gargoyle romance novels.

Entertaining if formulaic

Being a fan of the Anita Blake series, I thought I would give this book a try... It took me a little listening, but I started to enjoy the reader after a little bit... Yes, there's a lot of repetition in the writing but the story moved along enough to keep me interested... I recommend this for anyone who enjoys a lighter fantasy novel - one that is incorporated with a familiar environment (i.e. the US, New York, modern day, etc)... I've ordered the second book so you know it's entertaining enough to inspire caring in the characters.

I liked it and hated it

For the most part I would say that it was worth the listen, and the credit. I enjoyed the Characters, the overall story and the narrator.

That being said some of the parts in this book made me cringe the way the author describes things such as facial expressions is terrible, at times it felt like a bad TV movie with horrible actors. On top of that is the "romance" it seemed a bit forced and I actually thought at one point that the author is turned on by the idea of a massive gargoyle member... Crass I know but that's how I felt. I should state that the topic of the Gargoyles manliness is handled as tastefully as it possibly could be.

I liked the story it was enjoyable, its characters engaging, and the narrator is superb. If you like fun supernatural stories then give it a shot as I said its worth the listen. Its not quite as good as the Dresden files by Jim Butcher, but until Audible gets all of that series its a fun alternative!

Enjoyed!

I enjoyed this book. I really enjoyed the characters of this book. Overall most of the characters were reasonably well developed and individuals. I also really enjoy how most of the bad guys aren't wholey evil, simply playing by a different set of rules. I noticed others complaining about the narrator, but I had no issue with her. I enjoyed how everyone got their own voice and character reflected.

This book starts out a little slow but builds to a point where you can't stop listneing. What will happen next is not expected at all.

Unexpectedly exciting and fun. I love meeting new and unconventional heroes. Really and enjoyable listen.
