What you need to know to permaculture gardening

The book hooks you from the start with the idea that you’re a rebel helping to protect the earth by doing permaculture gardening. The book is for those who care about our planet and want to grow food naturally while nurturing the earth. It discusses creating an interdependent society that lives in a healthy community helping each other meet their needs while observing lasting joy. It explains how you can quit the rat race while helping each other spread abundance through your farming. Having lived on a homestead, I wish I had had this book to help me cultivate my land. It covers choosing the right plants to grow in your garden for your area, along with how to choose the best animals to have in your garden. Most importantly, it goes over how to plan out your permaculture garden given the area your provided, and choosing the different zones and where to put them. It is a beautiful way to live your life. Come and join the revolution.

Easily broken down for beginners

This has been a great book to add to my addition of gardening books. I like that the author had a chapter specific to which plants will work with which animals. There are certain plants that I did not realize could either attract certain animals or keep over critters and insects away. The author made this book super easy for anyone wanting to change the way they garden. The narrator has a great voice and was easy to listen to.

A Welcome Systems Approach

There two key forces that drew me to this book. One is the growing uncertainty that I see surrounding us in society today. With rising prices and the increasing vulnerability to the capricious whims of corporations, I was looking for options to improve self reliance. Food is obviously central to becoming self-sustaining.

Second, I tend to think in systems. I appreciate the holistic approach taken here, particularly as it seeks to build off the successful models that nature uses itself. Might as well learn from the best. For example, it highlights the fact that closed loop systems make the waste from one process a source of nutrients for another.

I also found it ironic that the book talks about the term "ecovillage" as several of my friends and I (also nearing retirement age) have begun discussing how an intentional community might work. This book solves one of the core issues around food with its 7-step approach. I have recommended the book to them so that we now have a common framework in which to discuss how things could work.

Highly recommend for anyone looking to make sustainable, long-lasting changes to how they generate, consume, and reuse food.

Fantastic!

This book was thorough enjoyable and packed with knowledge. For example WHY you let chicken poo rest. I have owned chickens and never knew the why. And willow trees, wow, I knew about aspirin but there is so much more there. Now to figure out where I could plant one. So many helpful details. My only complaint is not finding this book sooner.

Easy Gardening!

I've always wanted to start my own gardening for sustainability and a healthier living for my family, but I didn't know where to start as a beginner. This audiobook has provided me with essential tips and practical information on starting permaculture gardening. I don't have a big space or acres of land, but Chapter 4 advised me of the best layout and design for my permaculture garden, which focused on essential factors like exposure to the sun, water layers, garden soil quality, and much more.

This audiobook does not provide a long flow of unnecessary information. It's well-researched and provides the important facts needed for a successful and fruitful permaculture garden.

Truly an all inclusive beginners guide

I never knew there was so much to gardening, at least serious gardening. I didn’t even know some of these techniques existed. A great first read for getting into serious gardening.
