Publisher's summary

Imposter syndrome—the irrational self-doubt we feel despite obvious success—can strike at any time, at work or at home. Such crippling anxiety and worry, common to so many people, can even undermine your ability to lead a confident and authentic life. But when you understand the psychological roots of imposter syndrome, you can equip yourself with the right strategies and mindset to avoid the rabbit hole of fraudulent thinking.

In Overcoming Imposter Syndrome, licensed clinical psychologist Kelly Vincent teaches you how to navigate these complicated feelings and how to guide yourself toward lasting change. Through six compassionate and insightful lessons, Kelly unpacks the various types of imposter syndrome (yes, there’s more than one), then reveals proven strategies for rewiring your brain so you can challenge unhelpful thoughts and approach every task with confidence. Along the way, you’ll explore and practice both long-term strategies, such as regulating your nervous system, and short-term strategies, such as in-the-moment coping methods.

Is that ugly imposter voice in your head getting too loud? Now, with this Audible Original, you can tell it to keep quiet.

Just what I needed

I will be listening to this regularly. The exercise’s it had you do throughout really helped me to recognize my misguided thinking and helped me open up to the idea of trying to change and reframe my brain. I didn’t realize this was a problem of mine that I have struggled with since childhood. And while the feeling of self loathing will take time to overcome this book is a great starting point in the healing process.

Great points mixed with self contradiction

Excellent subject and many great points. Had to pause the audio to take notes way too many times to count :) also had to rewind back and listen again at times to author self contradicting in the same sentence. To paraphrase "you have to carry the best torch you can for your social group but when you do and encounter difficulty it's not you overcoming difficulty it's microagressions of the broken world" ?!? Excuse me? Or advice to aim for mediocrity to not get discouraged? I guess that's one way of dealing with imposter syndrome just aim for the most vanilla existence and keep your head low. :)) Did enjoy the topic overall, got a lot to think about and thus in conclusion a self contradicting review - smack dab in the middle.

A riveting awareness!

I am excited about what more may be, with this welcomed information. I’ve already been practicing some of the strategies and am feeling more whole in accepting my arising doubts. My best work is performed when I’m in sync with how I handle my situations. This definitely was a great audible and Kelly’s voice was so inviting & vibrant!

Better than what I've read before

This really did enlighten me and give me some tools to get out of this rut I've been in. Knowing why, how, and roots of this negative thought cycle is a great tool. Sure, I started therapy and got tools to organize, etc. Now, those tools are helpful because I can use them correctly. This has also given me questions to help my therapy be more effective.

Be prepared

Requires more than 1 listening, most likely. I learned my types, not too much of the why. You should have a notebook ready.

supportive and helpful

this is a self-respect book that helps you to know more about you and change things that you don't like or want to change. I could listen to this book more often to help me get through some of the things I used to think we're flaws about me.

Changed my life in one mental exercise

This book is for anyone who has ever doubted themselves. Anyone who is scared to try new things, try this book.
The reframing exercises are top tier. I genuinely can’t wait to share these tips with my Preteen kids, just as a better way to process their experiences and feelings about them.
The performance was elegant and well balanced between serious, and lighthearted tones.
