Publisher's summary

Are you ready for twists, turns, thrills, and chills? This complete set offers Joe C. Ellis's popular Weston Wolf OBX Detective novels: Roanoke Island Murders, The Singer in the Sound, and Kitty Hawk Confidential.

Roanoke Island Murders: Two unscrupulous antiquity dealers, Hugh Underdonk and Alfred Bacon, hope to get their hands on the Dare Diary, a long lost journal written by Eleanor Dare, one of the original members of Roanoke Island's Lost Colony. Detective Weston Wolf is drawn into this web of deception and murder by a beautiful woman who claims to be a descendant of Eleanor. As the bodies pile up, Wolf must untangle this web to save his own neck.

The Singer in The Sound: When a local fisherman hires Weston Wolf to find out what happened to his talented daughter, the savvy detective and his partner, Angie Stallone, discover a series of clues that lead to salacious crimes and celebrity scandal. Along the way, Wolf meets Freyja Beck, a unique and beautiful woman who was once an aspiring singer and actress. Her connection to the movie industry could be the key to unraveling the mystery of the missing girl and acquiring the evidence to nail one of Hollywood’s most celebrated producers.

Kitty Hawk Confidential: After moving into the oldest beachfront home in Kitty Hawk, Senator Reginald Forsythe hires Detective Weston Wolf to watch over his wife. The senator fears his wife may be possessed by the ghost of a woman who built the house back in 1896. Wolf's assignment is to keep Rebecca Winston Forsythe safe and make sure nothing scandalous happens that would jeopardize Forsythe's political career. Wolf soon discovers the case is more problematic than he ever imagined. Embroiled in an entanglement with the living and the dead, Wolf struggles to unravel a devious plot that places his career and very life in jeopardy.

Nice Collection of Classic Style Detective Stories

This starts out with a decent story written with a classic Detective vibe. Lots of mystery that kept me guessing till the end.
I enjoyed this sequel story a bit more than the first book. I found myself liking the Weston Wolf character and was more drawn into this story.
Kitty Hawk Confidential has definitely been my favorite in the Weston Wolf books so far. Lots of action, mystery with plenty of twists and an emotional rollercoaster. I didn't want to put this one down. Great audio narration and enjoyable stories!

Loads of history

I am always very interested in books that take place in North Carolina. This author has some really great historical stories that go along with solving crimes Thet take place in God’s country.

awesome

I love me a good murder mystery, and this one has three great choices. My favorite is Roanoke Island Murders, about antique dealers who fine a lost diary of a woman from the lost Roanoke colony - settled before Jamestown and Plymouth, but mysteriously disappeared. This one’s a great mix of history and modern murder mystery, so I liked that juxtoposition. The other two books were great.

I love the character of Detective Weston Wolf and the way he solves the mysteries. I also love the local North Carolina references. I hadn’t been there myself, but I really get a feel for the area based on the three books.

Fantastic series! I loved each book!

Three different stories, each one kept me listening, anxiously awaiting the next detail, the next twist, the final pieces of the puzzle! The plot of each story was unique, interesting, entertaining, believable and held my attention from beginning to end! The writing fantastic, clear, smooth flowing with beautifully believable dialogue and characters so supremely human that a few of them could be MY relatives! I’m naming NO names to protect the guilty, and to avoid playing spoiler, but trust me, they are THAT human and THAT beautifully flawed! I loved how the main and recurring characters grow, and develop as their stories progress, and how the events that transpire in those stories change THEM, lending an unmistakable air of realism to both the characters and their stories! Each story also features new and unique characters to play the various victims and villains, all also beautifully and brilliantly defined and developed! The narration is spot on, emotional, and perfectly timed, making listening an absolute pleasure! I loved everything about this series! Five stars!

this book is so bad

a misogynist modern detective noir. every woman he meets takes his breath away, leaving him brain addled and worthless. honestly it gets very old. the first two books were better but this one is disturbingly bad .
"her beauty bewitched me" ,, over and over and over.. ughhh
7-shot revolvers. revolvers with a safety. I'd love to proofread the books..

Outerbanks

Roanoke This was exciting and suspenseful with engaging characters and great storyline. I was captivated, and it kept me guessing and listening. What an exciting journey.
Singer Wolf's one liners are epic, and I enjoyed them. This was dark and twisted. Mother and son were pure evil. Wolf and Freya made a great team with Angie's help.
Kitty A twisted path to the truth. Greed and power feuled corruption. This was extremely intriguing , and I enjoyed seeing Wolf in action mentally and physically. What a sweet surprise ending!!!! I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

Written by a kid and sex predator partners?

Parts of the stories seem to be written by a horny 14 year old or someone with very limited experience with relationships.
In each story, wolf says he is in love with a woman he has only spent a few hours with and seems to base this only on how the woman looks. And he says each woman is his one true love.
I personally don't believe in love at first sight (though I have all too often believed in lust at first sight). But even if you do believe someone can fall in love without knowing hardly anything about the other person, it does not seem likely this will happen in every single story. How many one true loves can one person have?

In addition, there are so many bad choices made by the protagonist, it is implausible this was written by a functioning adult.

Then the writing is turned over to the sexual predator member of the writing team in the 3rd book:
First he once again falls in love with a woman he has only known for a few hours. The fact that she is the wife of his client does not dampen his lust/love. Nor the fact that she is suffering from what seems to be a severe mental illness.
Then he sneaks into her bedroom at night and watches her for a long time while she sleeps. Then he leans over her and does a biden for a few minutes where he puts his face next to her's and sniffs her.
Then later on he acquires some of her underwear and spends time sniffing it and fantasizing.
Finally, once he finds her in a state where she is totally unaware of what she is doing or who he is, wolfe thinks that is the perfect opportunity to have sex with her. Any decent person would consider this rape.
