Publisher's summary

Ian and crew had reached the end of their road. Hundreds of enemy invaders expending all resources to seize the small sanctuary left to the crew. With hundreds of thousands of infected bearing down on the enemy forces from behind, the situation had turned desperate.

Their mission, to stop the invaders from taking the base, their survival...secondary. With more than half their numbers already killed or consumed they fought with a ferocity that only those who had survived this long could possess.

Their world had gone from sunshine and rainbow unicorns to buckets of blood and mayhem in just a few short months and they had survived, but was it enough against what was now trying to destroy them?

One Nation is the seventh installment in the bestselling Five Roads to Texas saga a Phalanx Press collaboration.

One of my favorites of the series

These are part of a series and while individual characters’ story arcs diverge after the 1st book, Five Roads to Texas – they also start to come back together in some ways. Definitely best to listen to them in order (and all of them!). Also, this review may contain spoilers to previous books.

I loved, loved this one! I know a lot of it is really getting to know these characters and enjoying having this shared history of all going through all this with them. Starting right after the end of For Which We Stand, this one has a lot of action. Alternating chapters help introduce a new town and its survivors – not only of the infected but of a gang that has taken over.

I always love it when an author writes strong and respected female characters. Not only does Ian’s right hand woman, Kinsey, continue to be her amazing self – but there’s new female characters who find their strength and become vital members of the team.

I want to gush about how much I loved this – but don’t want to spoil anything. I just bought Indivisible and can’t wait to dive in.

Note: While Amazon/Audible lists The Days Before as the next book in the series, it’s actually a prequel. It can be read before or here.

Narration:
Andrew B Wehrlen continues to be THE voice of the Five Roads characters. I listened to this all in one day and am enjoying binging the series.

Take 'em down!

North Korea and Iran are at it again, or still. Chemical warfare to create a population of ravenous zombies. If that’s not bad enough, they’re trapping and collecting zombies to release on unsuspecting communities. These ne’er do wells, headed by a warlord named Dubois, need to be taken out. Ian’s crew has been tasked with this mission. Plenty of action, great characters, and a fine addition to the series. Another Great Five Roads Story!

One Nation: Ian's Road 2. Five Roads to Texas, Book 7 written by Joseph Hansen. The narration provided by Andrew B. Wehrlen. This is the second volume of Ian’s Road in the Five Roads Shared Universe. No shortage of action in this installment of the story. The new Leadership wants Ian and crew to head to stop the invaders from taking a key base. They also want Ian to start giving key members of his team leadership roles to help prepare to make more teams like his.

The actions and story hold the listener's attention through gripping storytelling. These characters get the listener emotionally invested in their journey in this new hellscape world. Survival is not guaranteed for anyone. Heroes are made from the smallest people. Size does not determine survival in this new world.

The narration by Mr. Wehrlen is just amazing. He is the voice of Toby, Ian, and Kinsey. His timing, delivery, and overall narration make this series the pure joy for the ears. The production quality of this audiobook is also of the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Joseph Hansen Phalanx Press delivered an excellent audiobook production. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Military SciFi

This is predictable in that it is North Korea and Iran who are the bad guys and America saves the day. I would have liked something different for example France/Italy or even India deciding they wanted to rule the world and Japan saves the world from distruction. I mean why not, no one can predict the future. For me this was boring because it has been used a lot in other novels. However, I did like how they used zombies as weapons, that is different and not something I have come across.
If you like military scifi with plenty of action, some gore and profanity then this is for you.

It is top quality Post apoc reading. It has lots of blood and gore, super fast action. And a superb storyline.
