Publisher's summary

Does it seem hard to get a handle on your emotions at times, especially when others are being unreasonable?

Does it seem like your patience is running thing with some individuals who strive to upset you?

If you can relate to any of these questions, then this book is for you.

The nonviolent communication method focuses on a number of different concepts that all promote peaceful and wholesome ways of living that can allow you to be able to live a healthier lifestyle in terms of your mental and emotional states. Some of the basic concepts that the NVC method attempts to teach people are split up into two groups of four components that can be applied in different ways to allow you to be able to communicate more effectively with the people around you and even to be able to understand yourself and your own feelings and emotions on a much deeper level. The four components of the nonviolent communication method are:

  • Observations, or the things that you perceive in the people and the world around you. In the context of these four components of the nonviolent communication, this refers to the things that happen to and around you that might cause specific reactions from you or other people.
  • Feelings, or the emotions that you experience as a reaction to the observations that you make or the things that happen to and around you.
  • Needs, or the fundamental things that all people require in order to be emotionally and mentally satisfied or fulfilled.
  • Requests, or the expressions that you or other people make to inform other people about the things that you might need and asking for help to allow you to meet those needs for yourself or even for other people.

Once you have finished listening this book, you should have a much better understanding of the method and how to live a peaceful and happy life by practicing the techniques that the nonviolent communication method teaches

Educational

This manual is going to help get your couple correspondence up to and unburdens going to begin with some data on why correspondence is so fundamental for all couples, how your non-verbal communication and non-verbal correspondence comes to play in this. I think it ideal for us. Much obliged!

Listened to entire book twice before review

I loved this book. It’s powerful, clear, practical, and a relationship saver.
The examples given of a broad range of relationship struggles hits home to nearly every listener. For me, it was control. It opened my mind when I heard the authors describe the hurtful assumptions and demands we put on our loved ones as our “safe” mechanism to control the relationship.
Powerful book and I’m grateful I picked it up.

Make Life Easy

I loved this book. Recently I realised that its difficult to find enough time to sit down and finish a huge chunk of book by reading, so this audible book really useful. I can just open it up, listen up on a few ideas, then get back to it again when I have the time to.
I suppose the idea of only touching upon communication principles might not have gone well with people who were hoping to understand them to the point of practicality.
