A family of four murdered in their hotel room. A single mother and her boyfriend both stabbed to death. A sordid history of violent crimes, repeated over and over - but decades apart.
Olivia Barker is a therapist with no connection to the murders. But she has heard things. Stories that keep her up at night. Details that only a killer would know. A killer who could be one of her patients…Olivia has no proof for her suspicions. But as the body count rises, so do her fears.
A rock is thrown through her window, her car tires are slashed, a chilling message is scrawled on her bathroom mirror. Olivia knows she's getting closer to the truth. But the truth could be the last thing she'll ever know....

I really enjoyed this book. It had me hooked from the first sentence and was very suspenseful. Todd Haberkorn was perfect as the narrator. I will definitely look for future books written by Kevin O'Brien and for books narrated by Todd Haberkorn.
I've been having a tough time finding a few books that keep me intrigued. I've actually stopped listening to several lately, but I was so happy to have found this book! I loved it! I loved the story, the suspense and the action.I didn't want to pause it and I got a great deal of work done around my house through this book! Though I did guess the villain, it was still a great story, and the villain got just what they deserved!
I HAVE to give credit to the reader, as well. He was awesome! His voices were great and entertaining. VERY well done!
I'm recommending this to all of my friends, have a great listen!
This mystery thriller made me laugh and cry, be courageous and shake with fear, also, feel proud and feel disappointment, but most of all it kept me guessing what was going to happen next. Kevin O'Brien knows how to paint a perfect picture with words. Narrator, Todd Haberkorn, is an outstanding reader.
OK. I did want to know what happened in the end...but there are just too many negatives to give this book a thumbs up. Unbelievable characters, unanswered questions, poor plot design and very bad psychology. You are warned!

When the accomplice was revealed but there were many surprises along the way.
Very good at portraying multiple characters. Great expression and interpretation.
Yes, not laugh or cry, but it surprised me repeatedly, right down to the last minute!
This book was wonderful and I am very disappointed that Audible does not have any other Kevin O'Brien book.
I actually feel a little tricked into buying this one, based on the earlier rave reviews. This is basically a YA novel, though a fairly gruesome example of the genre. I didn't finish it, but I know how it ends - if you get my drift.
That said, it was very well performed and doesn't take a lot of effort to listen to so if you want a bit of brain candy and don't mind a made-for-TV-movie plot it's a reasonable choice.
Whoever said it was unreadable is crazy.
I thought the story was great and never slowed down. A nice little surprise.
Todd Habercorn was the perfect lead. His voice is so versatile that you believe you are listening to a teenager. When the character's other personality "comes out" this Narrator's voice is completely sinister! Loved it.
Yes! I listened to the first 8 hours without turning it off and never got lost or bored. The story flowed and made sense. Very believable characters, from the hypnotherapist to the alter-ego.
His voice has so many levels. It's young when it needs to be and sinister when it needs to be!! His female interpretations are also realistic.
I almost did. At home, in bed, in the car, at work... I didn't want to put it down.
Listen to this one - you won't be disappointed in the story and especially in Habercorn.
Unspeakable was an excellent book. The story catches you and keeps you wondering exactly what is going on. Different than the rest. It was well worth the credit. But the thing that makes this book was Todd Haberkorns spot on performance. Everyone was so different and well acted that there was a couple of times I wondered if it was actually him. I hope to hear him again ,he was so entertaining. he kept me enthralled. Great choice for narrator. It made this book.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. Todd Haberkorn's performance was good, but I was very distracted by his mis-pronunciation of different cities and towns in the NW (and even the Oregonian newspaper!). It's not something you would notice if you don't know the proper pronunciations, but given that the author has lived in Seattle for a very long time, I'm surprised that this recording passed muster.
