Publisher's summary

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

At first glance it looks as if Rickman has been kidnapped, but Rapp knows certain things about his old friend that cause him to wonder if something more disturbing isn’t afoot. Irene Kennedy, the director of the CIA, has ordered Rapp to find Rickman at all costs. Rapp must navigate the ever-shifting landscape of Afghanistan as the Taliban, Iranians, Pakistanis and Russians all plot to claim their piece of the war torn state.

With Afghanistan crumbling around him, Rapp must be as ruthless as his enemies and as deceitful as people in his own government if he has any hopes of completing his mission.

So Great I need More Mitch

Where does The Last Man rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The best listen in a long time...George Guidall makes all the characters become old friends. That is what really does an author justice.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

There was a lot going on and all the parts came together very well there were definately edge of the seat situations..

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

They are all great, I have bought books because he read them...

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was so happy to see another Mitch Rapp book come out I was sad that it wasn't 25 hours long....

Any additional comments?

More Mitch please.....

A story of the realities of war.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Though it was tough to actually sit and listen to the story, knowing that it either true or based on one such incident or even a general description based on many (rather general) story and their gory details.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Last Man?

Since I am only half way through I already have enough knowledge and experience to know the scope and possible killings (etc), double crosses and such - I know what to expect and will not be surprised at any variations on a theme.

Have you listened to any of George Guidall’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Very well performed.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Definitely. Extreme might be a understatement. Reality is often eye opening and stomach wrenching.

Any additional comments?

Don't be surprised if this become a movie. I would venture to say that the chances are QUITE strong that it will either be on the big screen or on TV. Most likely "Big Screen" material in my humble opinion.

Just Excellent

I wouldn't have spent the credit on this book knowing exactly what this book was about, I'm brand new to Vince Flynn. I got it based on the other recommendations. I loved everything about it. I'm now actually reading another of his and decided to save the rest of his books for audio, so the narration made an impact. Just Excellent.

Another awesome story by Vince Flynn

What did you love best about The Last Man?

As usual the fast pace action.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

At times. Knowing who the bad guys were was intense at times.

What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?

He is the best. One of my favorite readers.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the director DCI thought she had lost one of her people to torture was moving.

Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp is a page turner, or in audible's case, an ear bender. Excellent book in every way. I will be listening to the entire series!
