Publisher's summary

"Matt, I need a war."

So begins David Baldacci's new book - a thriller unlike any he's written before. "Matt" is Mathew Pender, of Pender Associates - a shadowy organization that specializes in managing seemingly impossible situations for its clients. Sometimes, those services extend to managing - and creating - armed conflict.

When Matt Pender is asked by his client - the largest defense contractor in the world - to manipulate two nations against each other, a shocking and surprising series of events is set in motion that will possibly bring the world to the brink of World War III.

In this epic thriller with a global backdrop, David Baldacci delivers all the twists and turns, compelling characters, and can't-put-it-down pacing that listeners have come to expect from this master storyteller.

Another Baldacci winner

Another excellent Baldacci audio book and performance by Ron McLarty. I am looking forward to the next A Shaw novel.

Good story

Would you consider the audio edition of The Whole Truth to be better than the print version?

I don't think I would. I love the way Ron brings out the characters.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot didn't keep me on edge like his usual work does, but I still loved the story and I love the way Ron narrates so I enjoyed it very much.

What does Ron McLarty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings ou the characters and makes me picture them all as if I was watching a movie.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was, because with David I have to because of he twist he usually has.

Any additional comments?

I just love Ron reading David's books. The fit is perfect and he seems to know just how to give voice to the characters to make them come to life for me.

Wishing it was this easy to bring about peace...

I'd read the book previously, but listened to every word and relived the story again. We have a military industrial complex just like after WWII. Will we EVER achieve world peace and harmony?

When A Writer Can Actually Write...

...he does not have to fill the book with foul language, graphic sex or graphic violence. Yes, I know that people use profanity every day. Do they have to to get their point across? No! They are lazy and do not want to bother to come up with a better adjective. Many writers are getting just as lazy. Baldacci takes the time to give you great descriptions and does not hide behind graphic sex or violence either. Yes, people get blown up, shot, stabbed, etc. but those moments are only tiny blips in the story. As usual, loved Ron McLarty, too.
