About what I expected

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I picked up this book because I am a fan of the associated television show "Castle." Like the show, it's an easy story to get into and doesn't require a whole lot of critical thinking. It wasn't a stellar book but I wasn't expecting it to be. It has some subtle and not-so-subtle references to the TV show and it's fun to try to associate events in the books to events on the show.

All in all, it's a fun book for fans of "Castle" but otherwise just another cookie-cutter mystery.

Didn't care for it. The narrator appeared to be chosen for sounding

Good Read.....will hold your interest.

THE story is good, the character development was fair, he gave some what of an explanation as to who they were and the relationships. He held my interest, and it was easy for me to visualize, the characters from the TVs show into the rolls is each character.

Heat wave

The book was good but I was disappointed that the voices weren't Becket and Castle.

Great for fans of the show Castle

At first I found i disappointingly generic with it's tough-female-cop-in-a-man's-world usualness, but I actually found myself loving it and laughing hard despite the strange looks I earned from other commuters.

If you like the show, you'll like this book. For everyone else, if you liked this book, check out the show.

Also, I feel I should mention I have a boyfriend who actually doesn't read anything but newspapers and the occasional (instruction manual after he's already broken something) and the other day I found a hard copy of this exact book in the night stand.

If you like crime novels, the show, or have a sense of humour: try it.

Enjoyed story overall, could relate characters to TV show, but I just couldn't get past narrator-seemed as if on long sentences, he ran out of air- I won't buy another with this reader. Sorry

Great StoryLine

What did you love best about Heat Wave?

It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole story, even if I had figured out who, I still wanted to know why or how things would develop

Have you listened to any of Johnny Heller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Never listened to him. He's okay, but hasn't got a lot of change in his voice for the different characters. He's not as good as some, but better than others I have listened to. Just Okay

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I was able to, since it didn't go past the 10 hours I work and the 2 hours of driving.

loved it

the narrator could have been better. Other than that it's a good story line. I was amazed that these books existed.

Mediocre

What did you like best about Heat Wave? What did you like least?

Decent story; very little depth.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Meh.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Johnny Heller?

Maybe. I was aware the whole time that Heller was reading. With the best narrators, I don't feel like I'm being read to.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

This might actually make a better movie than book due to the lack of character development.

Wonderfully Entertaining!!

I love the Castle TV series and that is the main reason that this series caught my eye. After reading the reviews, I was hesitant to purchase, but I thought with the new Audible guarantee, I couldn't lose. Boy am I glad that I took a chance!! These books are so entertaining and because of the TV series, I have real images in my head of the characters. Jamison Rook is wonderful! He is witty, helpful, boyish and smart. The perfect counter part to Nikki. I LOVE the narrator as well. In my opinion, his acting is dead on and his various voices are wonderful. I have never heard him before, but I will look to see if he has done anything else.
I HIGHLY recommend this series to anyone who wants a light hearted mystery. The huge benefit...they have written and produced good story with virtually no foul language. THANK YOU!!
