Publisher's summary

In a celebrity-obsessed society, baby Muffin's death is big news. Was it cot death, or something more sinister?

The bereaved parents, celebrity couple Jodee and Chazz, live in curate Callie Anson's parish, and Callie becomes involved with the funeral arrangements in the spite of the disapproval of the vicar. Detective Inspector Neville Stewart is called away from his honeymoon to investigate the case, with disastrous personal results, and journalist Lilith Noone's professional future is put on the line.

Meanwhile, for police family liaison officer Mark Lombardi, the death of baby Muffin is eclipsed by another fatality, much closer to home. He finds himself in an impossible position, torn between loyalty to his family and a growing love for Callie.

Hard to pause this book

Don't make my mistake: I began the book on the last day of the month and could not turn it off. Just when I needed to do many other routine tasks, the book took over my life.

I thoroughly enjoyed it; I'll catch up with the work later.

But I come to this book with special privilege. I am an Episcopalian and I take no interest in celebrity culture. It was especially enjoyable to watch an episcopal cleric not be suckered into celebrity glorification. Kate Charles peoples this book with an engaging variety of persons.
