Publisher's summary

Number one New York Times best-selling author Christine Feehan reaches new heights of passion and suspense in this thrilling novel that takes listeners deep into the California backcountry, where a woman is tormented by visions of a killer.

It starts in her dreams. Hideous flashes from a nightmare only she can stop. Images of a murderer stalking the ones she cares about most....

Stella Harrison thought she got away from the traumas of her past. Running the Sunrise Lake resort high in the Sierra Nevada mountains has brought her peace, even though she doesn’t truly share her quiet life with anyone. Not even Sam, the hired handyman who notices everything and always seems to know exactly what she needs.

Stella doesn’t know anything about Sam’s past, but somehow over the last two years his slow, steady presence has slipped past her defenses. Still, she knows she can’t tell him about her recent premonitions. So far there’s been no murder. No body. No way to prove what’s about to happen without destroying the life she’s built for herself.

But a killer is out there. And Stella knows that this time she’ll do whatever it takes to stop him.

Amazing read

I loved this book. It made me smile, laugh, and cry. The love and friendship was amazing and devastating at the same time. I’ll listen to this one again.

LOVED IT!

one of Feehan's better (and I love Feehan!) stories! The story keeps me going. Not overly done with sex scenes for a change. Great characters and backgrounds.

Great book!

Loved this book. Different for this author. Great characters that I am more than invested in and can’t wait for their own stories.

Sam and Stella are great. Their professional relationship turned friendship turned romance was just what the story needed to ramp up the suspense. Their friends are unique characters.

As the story transitioned to the last few chapters I began to suspect. I didn’t want to but hints were dropped and they rang too true.

Each character has so much history that each is intriguing. This book was hard to put down and the more I listened (audiobook), the more I needed to keep going.

Can any book ending the way this one dies have a HEA? Yeah, it can. It is most definitely overshadowed by loss but Stella definitely finds her HEA.

Loved it

Feehan has such a good writer. I really enjoyed this story. This one is different than her others in that there was less couples anxt and shall we say…interruptions. There was less sci fi too. This new story has plenty of action, a greater focus on the mystery and character development.

Slow narrator

This story moves slower than any Christine Feehan book I’ve read. And I’ve read them all. The story itself is very good. The narration just killed it. The narrator was slow, almost plodding. It was difficult to know which character was speaking because most of them sound alike. The variation of tone was inconsistent with no variation in speed inflection. Nothing conveyed the affect of the characters. I’d like to try it again with a different narrator. One of this author’s strengths is her portrayal of strong female characters. They exist in this story but it’s very hard to connect with characters when the narration makes them flat, dull and indistinguishable.

Hard to stop listening

This book has characters that are exciting to hear about. The plot keeps you in suspense and only reveals the psycho near the end. I found this to be a very enjoyable book.

Love the book

The book was great but not the narrator, she sounds like a robot sometimes. I love Christine Feehan books.
