Hope there is more in this lIne!

Different flavor...

I read the story once and felt like there were a lot of details I didn't weave into the plot at the time. Maybe it was me and distractions in my life.

About a week later I was stuck waiting for someone and decided to go back through the beginning of the story.

I was surprised when got totally sucked into these people, their passions and fears and secrets! Definitely a 5 when I can enjoy a book this much on a 2nd run through.

I enjoy most Jayne Krentz' books in all her timeframes. This left me wanting more. NOW! Please. It is going to be hard waiting.

A masterful storyteller

Another great book by Jayne Ann Krentz. She provides a delicious blend of mystery, romance and human behavior with a string nod to intuition.

Good beginning series

Liked the characters, the plot surprised me SOME, twists. I wasn’t in love with the lead character’s portrayal by the reader—a bit little girlish and the character was NOT—she’d been thru a setback and was sorting out her life but the choice to portray her in that sing-song voice was all wrong. Change it going forward. I’ll try another

Good storytelling...

The writing was perfectly paced, the characters were believable, and the ending was satisfying. There were a few surprises thrown in along the way, as well. The narrator did a wonderful job of voicing each character, and the story kept me interested.

I have enjoyed every book written by this author and have read or listened to every single thing she has written by each of her pen names. Ms. Krentz is an 'automatic' read for me. She never disappoints.

Slow to start . . .

Liked the main characters once I got to know them. Good plot but muddy at times. Narrator very good.

A different Jayne Ann Krentz

I love Jayne Ann Krentz. I have most of her books. This story didn't have her usual sense of humor. The story was interesting, and it held my attention to the end. It might have worked better as a book, rather than recorded. The conversations between Max and Charlotte seemed sometimes unrealistic and not up to JAK's usual standard. It also didn't help that Charlotte's "voice" was weak and whiny. Her constant whimpering "how could I have missed that...how could she do that to me..." was just annoying. Finally, there was quite a lot of profanity. It might have worked in the written word, but it seemed gratuitous and awkward on the recording. All in all, it was a good story, and I liked Max, but I don't recommend it as read aloud. Read the book.

A story stemming from a rape.

Very confusing story line. Interesting. Lots of different families involved, with a surprising twist at the w.
