Publisher's summary

A duke’s governess, a gentleman scientist, and a castle full of flowers is the perfect setting for a summer romance.

As the new governess to the duke's family, Alice Sharpe must learn to control her impulsive ways. Employment in the duke’s household is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and could mean living in comfort the rest of her days. Unfortunately, her first encounter with the duke's neighbor, a handsome scientist, proves she may not be ready for the austere role of governess.

Rupert Gardiner has one goal: to have his work in botany published by the Royal Society. He is fortunate that his neighbor, the duke, believes in him and enlists Rupert to make a record of all the flora on the castle grounds. But Miss Sharpe’s spontaneity and continual appearance during his work is a rather annoying distraction. At least, that’s what he tells himself.

While Alice struggles to adapt to her new role, constantly battling who she is and the person she believes she must become, she cannot help but admire Rupert’s intelligence and focus. The more often they fall in together, the more her admiration deepens. But could a gentleman such as he ever fall in love with the governess?

As the first stand-alone novel in a new series by author Sally Britton, this story begins the Clairvoir Castle romances. This is a lighthearted series set in the Regency period.

Simply lovely

An author who can make the study of bugs the least bit endearing deserves 5 stars. The characters seemed like normal people and I loved that about the book. So many lovely supporting roles that I hope get their own story in the future. One of my favorite narrators.

Lovely and engaging Regency Romance!

I highly recommend this new series by Sally Britton!! This novel was a sweet start to the Clairvoir Castle Romances.

Alice is uncertain yet determined to succeed at her position as the new governess in the Duke's household. Rupert's goal is to successfully catalogue the plants and insects on the Duke's estate. Their relationship and care for each other blooms and unfolds naturally and realistically.

I was charmed and captivated by this lovely and engaging Regency Romance. I enjoyed the narration, the setting, the characters, and the pace of the plot. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

Butterflies, flowers and romance

Loved this book beginning with the white butterfly introducing the characters to each other, to the spider to end the story. Charming and lighthearted, warm and fun.

Loved it!

I am a huge sally britton fan after listening to the Inglewood romances and this book was a new favorite! The characters were intriguing and the story was a fresh take on the typical lord and lady romances with Me. Gardiner’s naturalists perspective. I love a fun clean romance and this book did not disappoint!!

A Wonderful Escape!

I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely story and Jessica's beautiful narration of it. I did not hesitate to finish and found myself eager to find the time to listen to the immersive tale. Any lover of Sweet Regency Romance, will delight in Mr. Gardiner and Miss Sharp's story.

Alice's character is used to being the unwanted relation. For once, she has an opportunity to find her place, making her own way through work as a governess-at a Duke's home no less. When literally stumbling over a man she presumes to be the gardener in a moment of free time, she is shocked to learn him to be the Duke's hired Entomologist
And a gentleman, as well. She of course thinks her beneath his notice but the man keeps surprising her at every turn. Does he not realize how delicate her position is? And could he truly be sincere to only a governess?

Rupert Gardiner is used to noticing the little creatures, as his fascination and studies lie in the creepy and crawlers of the world. He has yet to find a young woman not turned off or disinterested by the subject, but the new governess proves otherwise. Though she does not seem to appreciate the rare and talented individual that she is. Soon, his fascination extends beyond his garden cataloguing work and shifted to a most unique study, in how he may win this governess' heart.

Wonderful new series

I’ve read this and now listened to it. It is as good the second time as the first. I love Sally’s books. The narrator is also very good. Alice and Rupert will make you smile. I can’t wait for more books in this series. The Duke is awesome.
