Publisher's summary

When Phoebe starts receiving anonymous letters, she never once thinks the most irresponsible man in London is her correspondent. Or that she will fall in love with him.

Phoebe Kimball grew up believing in love, but after failing to find a gentleman capable of capturing her heart, she has turned more practical than romantic. She is determined to find a husband in London this season. If only the annoying Mr. Fenwick would stop appearing every time she sets her cap at someone! When an anonymous letter arrives warning her that her current target is unsuitable marital material, Phoebe begins a relationship with the letter writer that promises something more than a practical alliance.

Griffin Fenwick does not usually care for women on the hunt for a husband, but Miss Kimball's quick wit and refusal to admit she enjoys his company intrigues him. When he realizes the gentlemen on her list of eligible bachelors is full with scoundrels, he warns her the only way he can - through a letter. As he comes to know Phoebe better, he soon realizes he wishes to put his own name on her list. If only she liked Griffin as much as she liked her anonymous correspondent.

When Phoebe realizes its been Griffin writing her all along, will she put aside practicality for love, or spurn Griffin for even trying to woo her?

Letters for Phoebe is the first in a series of books about five friends. The next four novellas will be written by authors Joanna Barker, Megan Walker, Heidi Kimball, and Arlem Hawks.

Craving a sweet and clean Regency Romance?

I fully enjoyed the narration of this lovely story and the realistic relationship development between Miss Kimball and Mr. Fenwick. I was charmed and captivated by the plot because it reminded me of a favorite movie - You've Got Mail.

Sally Britton writes creative, engaging and entertaining Regency Romance! This was a sweet and strong start to the Promise of Forever After Series.

Listen, enjoy and look forward to the rest of the stories in the series!

Sweet

A short and sweet Regency Romance. The predominant character development revolved around the two main characters; however, the performance was excellent and it was a good listen during my commute.
It was more like an episode in a series. This did not prevent it from having good writing and excellent storytelling.
I will look for this author again as well as the narrator.

A DIFFERENT PLOT TWIST!

I liked this book as it was different from most historical romances. Both main characters were intelligent and thoughtful. As the book summary states, Phoebe begins receiving letters warning her off of men on her "list" of potential suitors. The letters are from a male friend that is very annoying to her! But she mostly does heed his letters, and finds out that what she is told is true. These letters come to her over and over again as she is going methodically down her list of potential suitors, and she begins to wonder just who is writing to her, and how he knows these tidbits about her list of men? Of course, as the book goes along, and her list of men dwindle, she does figure out who is the author of the letters, and at first is miffed (without revealing to him yet that she knows it is him ) But, even as he has already done, she finally realizes that he IS a good, kind, intelligent and thoughtful man. I like this book because it had a bit if mystery to it, even as it was an historical romance novel. The main characters were fun, and they enjoyed each other's abilities and intelligence.

A fun Regency Read

My thoughts on this book:

• I liked that Griffin had honor, kindness, and commitment. He was on a quest to save Phoebe from choosing a bad suitor.

• Phoebe and Griffin were very likeable characters that were thoroughly developed and fleshed out. The witty banter between these characters and the situations they found themselves in, made for an interesting plot.

• The writer's words painted clear pictures that helped me to visualize the scenes and the emotions of the characters. I felt like I was a part of those scenes.

• The author's writing style was concise vivid, and clear.

• The narrator did an amazing job of bringing this story to life.

• I really enjoyed this short novella. It was such a warm, sweet romance.

At my request, I was given a complimentary copy of this audiobook from the author. I have voluntarily left my review and my opinions were my own. I will be looking forward to reading/listening to more books by this author and narrator.

A Charming Love Story

This book has been such a pleasure to listen to. It was well written with heartwarming interests, humor and wit throughout the story. I love how Sally Britton can include details and descriptions that enhance the reading experience without burdening or sidetracking the natural flow. As always the reader has good intonation, and a welcoming voice that invites the listener to sit back and enjoy the narration of the story. The combination of a well written story, with a soothing narrator made listening to this book a very pleasant way to spend my time. I will be revisiting this story again soon!

A sweet regency romance

This is a sweet novella that I listened to in between some contemporary romances. While in school, Phoebe and her friends made a pact that they would marry for love. Phoebe hasn't found love yet so despite the pact she made with her friends, Phoebe sets her mind that this Season she will find someone to marry. But it seems every time she sets her sights on a gentleman she receives an anonymous letter warning her of something about them--they gamble, they're about to be betrothed to someone, etc. And then irritating Griffin Fenwick keeps popping up at every function Phoebe attends.

Griffin is such a sweetheart to warn Phoebe about the men she's interested in. The banter between them when they meet at the various events is fun and witty, which is the best kind of banter. It was fun to watch him start falling for Phoebe as they spent time together. Although this is a novella the characters are well developed and the plot wasn't rushed.

The narrator Jessica Elisa Boyd is great. She's a favorite of a couple of authors I read so I've listened to many books she's a narrated.
