Publisher's summary

The first in the Circle Trilogy from the #1 New York Times bestselling author

Standing on the cliffs of 12th century Ireland following the disappearance of his twin, Hoyt Mac Cionaoith is visited by the goddess Morrigan and is charged with the ultimate of tasks: saving his and all future worlds. His enemy, the beautiful but deadly vampire queen Lilith, has had over two thousand years' experience in cruelly killing and changing humans into one of her own - including Hoyt's brother, Cian.

Now, Hoyt, a sorcerer, must travel across the world and through time to find and train the five others Morrigan has prophesized will join him as a circle and do battle against Lilith's army of vampires on Samhain in the land of Geall. But just who is the witch, the shape-changer, the scholar, the warrior, and the vampire? How will this unlikely band of six prepare and become one with less than three months until the possible end of the world?

Following the arrival of Glenna Ward - a modern day witch with a knack for making her own kind of magic, the kind that makes his heart melt - Hoyt must find the strength to save the world, and a love that knows no bounds.

Sometimes confusing

I liked how the narrator stayed in character throughout, but I wished it would've been more informative at the beginning that it was a story within a story.

Good but not what I expected

I purchased this title during a prior audible sale. I found myself confused through a large part of the book and was disappointed because Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors.
It wasn't until I started book 2 in the series that I realized that this version wasn't the unabridged version and a lot of the book was left out. I am enjoying the second book more.
I may go back and read the full version of this book to see if my opinion changes. My note here is to always make sure you validate what you are getting.

Entertaining !!

As usual Nora Roberts can give you a good story. Nothing too deep, or mind bending. Just a nice story about love, family and vampires. Outlander meets female Lestat. On to book 2 of 3.

Awful, left out half the book!

This is the first book that I have hated listening to, because all of the important parts are missing! You cut out the airplane where Hoyt brought the rain, the part where King and Hoyt fight after Cian is hurt, and you completely omitted the talk between Moira and King about how he and Cian met! I stopped there, how can you call this a Nora Roberts book and leave such important chunks of the book out. Seriously debating canceling my subscription to Audible

Great story but awful Narration

I’ve previously read this book before, and was excited to hear the audible version. I really like the storyline but the narrator’s voice for the different characters was terrible. The female ones we’re awful, and the worst was Glenna who sounded like a 6 foot tall transvestite – which made the scenes between her and Hoyt a little different. Hoyt’s voice was very overdone also. And as if the rest weren’t enough, there seemed to be a weird spanish accent mixing in with the Irish and French ones. I had to force myself to finish listening.
