Publisher's summary

He came for revenge. He found redemption.

Titus drove to Florida to murder a man. Fresh from prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Out for blood.

But when a distraught mother begs him to track down her missing daughter, the former detective can't help himself. He dives head-first into a sleazy South Beach underworld of lowlife thugs, celebrity wannabes, and drug-fueled sex parties.

Titus soon finds himself up against an organized crime boss, a crooked politician, and a hard-nosed detective. Nobody, it seems, wants the girl found.

Now, a professional hit man has Titus in his crosshairs...just as he's about to unravel a mystery deeper, darker, and more twisted than he ever imagined.

Will Titus defeat his inner demons in time to become the hero he once was?

Fantastic narrator

I've never heard of Adam Gold before Oh, but he's got to be one of the best narrators I've ever heard

Surprise

Excellent book in my opinion. John Patten does a great job including grit, humor, tragedy, and human feeling into this story, and the narrator brings it all to life fantastically. You can tell this author spent a lot of time reading authors such as John Macdonald and other noir authors. It really shows. Mr. Patten I look forward to more of your work in the future and hopefully audible adds your other two books sometime soon.

New series, new author FIVE Stars!

I was very happily surprised when I started listening to this book. With nothing new in my library that I wanted to listen to I found this book. I really only purchased it because Adam Gold is the narrator and I always like listening to him.
This book is very similar to the Jack Winchester series by Jon Mills who’s books Gold also narrates.
Titus is an ex cop who was wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. Exonerated, he goes looking for the person responsible for his downfall, he knows who and where he is, just not what he wants to do about him. In the meanwhile he takes private investigation jobs. The job he picks up in this book is a very twisted family affair with a missing teenage daughter, a mother with anger issues and a father who is a senate candidate. Very surprising ending!
This is the first book in this series, there are two more so far that I hope will be coming to Audible in the near future.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great read and narration..

Great mystery/murder story. Titus was fresh out of a ten-month stint in prison for something he didn’t do and headed to Miami to kill the man he was sure caused the death of his wife. BUT he got waylaid along the way by a woman who wanted him to find her daughter. One thing led to another and it led to one murder then another. It was a very good book and Titus was a very funny guy sometimes. I did like Sophia and I’m hoping in the next book they get together.

Sex that was insinuated and the F-bomb was used 158 times.

As to the narration: Adam Gold did a fantastic job on the voices and his awesome emotions. I would definitely listen to him again.

Great find!

Very impressive, good story hits all the buttons. Titus is the protagonist who has some big inner demons. An ex-cop who did time in jail, he hits Miami looking for revenge for the death of his wife and unborn child. When a woman approaches him to ask for help finding her missing daughter, what follows brings him into the Miami underworld full of hedonistic pleasures and violence and the hope that he can do some good in a world that feels, to him, empty and dark.

Like many reviewers on Audible, I'm constantly listening to new books and I've listened to 300+books so far. This new author and the wonderful narrator are an awesome pairing and I am SHOCKED that the next 2 books in this series are not on Audible!

This book is 5 stars without a doubt so use your credit and enjoy it today - awesome in every way.

Trying a new author and this was a winner!

I am always looking for new authors to try. I chose Miami Burn because Adam Gold is one of my favorite narrators, and I liked the sound of the storyline. I am disappointed that the next two Titus books are not available in audio, though. Especially when there is a preview of the second one at the end of the first one! I’m still hoping the series will continue in audible.
