Publisher's summary

The story of Nate the potion maker continues!

Well, did you know that Kyushu is an F-ranked town? Neither did I, but had I known about this tidbit of information, all of the unfortunate attacks would’ve made sense. I think. But the Lord Ruler truly is a douche canoe for leaving his people to fend for themselves.

That’s not all. My shop’s ranking is E, embarrassing really, despite all of the hard work put into building it.

There’s a lot of work to do to be competitive with the other shops out there. But the most important things are training my apprentices, getting to know my betrothed, understanding my pets, and welcoming our new farmhand.

Will I ever be confident enough to truly feel like a master of apprentices? Who knows?

The story begins with picking up my third apprentice from a mother who may have too much ambition and enough anger issues to give even Meredith Blake a run for her money.

Novel contains: strong MC in a slice-of-life environment, dungeon diving, boss battles, cultivation and elements, mana/magic, MC-exclusive system but it doesn't do the work for him, treasures, adventurers, slow world building, build-up, features that will not be introduced all at once (upgrades so on), actual good loot at the end of very powerful bosses, romance (no harem). As characters develop throughout the series, issues and emotions and even the MC may find himself in a corner or two. A story of an upcoming potion shopkeeper and his apprentices.

Building an S-ranked potion shop is easier said than done....

Already Read it and Still Wanted the Audio

I love Alvin Atwater's books read most of them and have not found one I did not like. Honestly I read this book before the audio one came out. The audio performance was FANTASTIC Matt Hicks and Allie Piper do a fantastic job bringing the characters to life but their skill really shows with the pets! You can not go wrong with this book and it is so much fun enjoying this book

I’m loving this series!!

Such a fun series with a stubbornly and purposefully obtuse MC that is admittedly hilarious and has the habit to literally make me laugh out loud!! Can’t wait for number 3!!!!

more OP action

More fun with, and doing it his own way. The potion maker protects his own. if you liked the first book the second book just gets better the performance is still outstanding.

Love it

this is an incredible and enjoyable listen. yes the story remains with most gamelit tropes in the sense of an individual with over the top power who always achieves victory because of some convenient plot device or whatever. Yet that isn't the driving point in this adventure. Nate continues to resist the "hero's call" and aims to advance his own skills and desires. I'm constantly looking forward to how he will avoid revealing his strengths each time. the fact that his chosen goal is almost actively restrained by the system makes his progress, even the slightest, something very interesting and never feels like guarantee. Honestly his struggles to achieve his personal goals is as exciting as most boss fights I've watched. maybe there is even a lesson buried inside this story, something about not letting the world dictate your outcomes... or maybe I'm childish.

Improved from the last

This was an improvement with a reduction of the first books flaws. Glad to see the MC improve, if even a little. The male animal voices are still why I can’t rate the performance a five though.

Is good

Even though there is annoying, pauses between each sentence from Allie Piper and the occasional mispronounced word from Matt Hicks. It did not hinder the performance too badly. Looking forward to the next.

Great storytelling

Love the character interactions and the family aspect the potion maker engenders with the apprentices and magical creatures.
