Publisher's summary

Ten years ago, deep within a rift, a choice was granted.

Defeat the Demon King and end the apocalypse.

Or take his power for themselves and keep the rifts open.

Sloan chose an ending.

His party turned against him. They killed him.

They split his legacy and belongings amongst themselves.

They hid the truth. They profited.

Those heroes who betrayed the world.

Now he’s back.

Reborn. Reincarnated in a world where the system is life.

Reborn in a world of rift breaks and monsters spawning while so called heroes control sectors like overlords.

Rank by rank he’ll climb…to take back what was stolen from him.

His life.

So, you want to know more? This is the story of a man out of time, appearing 10 years after his death within a rift. Armed with a cheat skill, he’ll grow stronger and stronger as a Spellblade and summoner. Mixing post-apocalypse with magical realism and LitRPG flair, System Reborn is an easy LitRPG Adventure to pick up while waiting for the next big release.

Good story great narration

The only complaint I have is that in book 1 the mc said he got the class swordsman in his first life but in book 2 he was suddenly a theif.

great series can't wait for more

got a credit for an honest review. this book checks all the criteria for something I'd listen to over and over. I love reborn stories where the Mc uses his knowledge and skills to even the playing field, this one takes a new turn and the Mc is thrown FORWARD in time. I can't recommend this enough.

Really basic writing but nothing bad here

To be honest the only reason this holds at 3 stars overall is the love shown to columbo ...

It's not poorly written but the plot points and dialogue all throughout are really sophomoric. It seems like it's written for (and possibly by) a high schooler early on and with not much experience.

Enjoyed this.

MC gets screwed over by his raiding party and they kill him but the system brings him back at level 1.
Not much more I can say without spoilers.
Great first 2 books.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
5 stars. Thoroughly enjoyed this.

Not what I expected!

This went WAY beyond what I had thought would be in this series so far. But at the same time it is pretty shallow. It is simply just a fun and easy read/listen. I see this as something I will come back to when I need a break from newer series. Or when I’m not feeling up to getting into anything complicated.
It feels a bit like an anime or a manga which was probably the point. It is a rapid/power leveling experience.
These first two books being the origin/kickstarter to get the MC close to where he needs to be to even START handling those who have wronged and betrayed him! And he will probably need another book to be able to do it alone. I am looking forward to it all the same!
From what I have seen so far, we are going to hopefully have some amazingly overpowered fights in later Volumes!

Adam Stubbs does a great job with the narration and the characters!!!

I enjoyed book 1 more then book 2.

I kept waiting for character development. Ended up being level grinding with new allies every rift who were eventually killed off. Missed opportunities to have a balanced story.

what a great start

right up front I recommend this book to anybody reading this review. I tend to take it easy on the 1st of any series as the beginning of anything has a tendency to be shaky. the writing was solid and the performance from the narrator was Top Notch. I'm very much interested in seeing more of this story from this author and enjoying future performances from the narrator. this author appears to have a thing for Cliffhangers. fortunately with this audiobook the volume one Cliffhanger wasn't too bad as Volume 2 was right around the corner. if you get to the end of volume two and have a desire to continue on then I've got good news as volume 3 is already out with volume four having an April release date set. the story starts with a fight followed by a betrayal and an unlikely second chance where the main character appears to seek revenge. there is a game like system that stirred up all kinds of trouble and at the moment when things could go back to normal the axe fell. the main character is an exactly at square one and his progression has garnered some unwanted attention. separating the quality of the storytelling and performance from my personal feelings for a moment. I'm not a fan of Cliffhangers and I didn't like the fact that the author killed off a number of the characters. at the end of the day though the purpose is to entertain that was certainly entertained and will be continuing on with volume three. what I'm curious about now is if every audiobook is going to cover to volumes. the gentleman States at the end of the ebook that each volume is approximately 50,000 words. regardless I will simply say Well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this audiobook to us, the audible listeners.

The plot is logical even if the MC is not

I found the main character to be likeable, logical and interesting but the ways in which he is described are tragically written and come across as jarring. every other adjective is awkward and takes away from the scene.
not a bad start, but lacking any use of cadence, smooth transitions or consistent descriptions of supporting characters.
This is not the worst example of the time jumping high-ranking returner story. If the poor use of English were corrected and the other stilted cadence of the MCs thoughts were ironed out, I would give it 4/5. I hope the author can improve in time and that book 3 is better because I plan on giving it a chance.
