Publisher's summary

The McBride brothers are in for a matrimonial surprise when an enterprising woman answers their little sister's mail order bride advertisement in this laugh-out-loud historical romance.

As the oldest of the McBride siblings, Morgan had to be protector and shepherd since Ma died and Pa ran off. It hasn't always been easy, especially when his heart longs to roam on the trail. But now that his brother Kit is married and settled, the time is right for Morgan to leave Buck's Creek. Little does he know that his hellcat of a little sister Junebug is dead set on keeping him at home and getting more help around the house–all with one honest advertisement in The Matrimonial News.

Epiphany Hopgood has always had a gift for doing the exact wrong thing. She’s too tall, too loud, too opinionated, and too contrary for her family and community. Staring down the barrel of spinsterhood, she and her grandmother answer a seemingly straightforward ad for a bride.

But when Pip shows up to Buck’s Creek, she finds that Morgan McBride is not the husband she expected. In fact, he doesn’t even want to be a husband. But maybe there’s a way to make everyone happy out on the Montana frontier…

Critic reviews

“An unstoppable force meets an immovable object in Marrying Off Morgan McBride. I absolutely loved spending time in Buck’s Creek with the boisterous McBride family. There’s nothing better than watching a couple crack each other’s hardened exteriors to discover the softness underneath. This is a book to savor like a fresh batch of cornbread.”—Jen DeLuca, USA Today bestselling author of Well Traveled

"Barry loads the entertaining plot with convincing twists and turns, genuine laugh-out-loud moments, and spitfire characters...Readers will hope for a quick return to Buck’s Creek."Publishers Weekly

"…this romance is laugh-out-loud funny and contains both emotional sweetness and high-heat content."—Library Journal (starred review)

The character June Bug and all the McBrides

This had all the hallmarks of a good story: character arcs, romance, and some comedy.

Cute and quirky

Great sequel to first book. Kit is a little devil and delight to have a story fashioned around. Looking forward to the rest of the brothers getting married off!

A Hilarious Cowboy Romance

I was a little curious how Amy Barry was going to pull off the same premise and make it interesting but I shouldn't have doubted because she did! It was a pure delight watching Pip captivate Morgan. I love a book where the heroine has insecurities but we get to see the hero's perspective and he thinks shes perfection! I also enjoyed meeting Junebug's new accomplice AKA Pips grandmother. Every woman should have someone to tell them they are worth something and it's ok to enjoy life. While I didn't mind that the first book in this series was closed door I did enjoy that this one had a bit more spice! I'm yet again impressed by Amy Barry's ability to get inside a characters perspective and show us what they think and why they are wrong. Both Morgan and Pip learned about themselves during this story and we got to see how differently they see themselves from how everyone else sees them. I can't wait to read the next one when it comes out! A hero who thinks he is above falling in love vs Junebug. I'm just going to say right now. My money's on Junebug.
