Publisher's summary

"A gorgeous love story from one of the finest romance writers out there." —Carley Fortune, New York Times bestselling author of Every Summer After

A New York Public Library Best Book of 2023

A Most Anticipated Book by Entertainment Weekly ∙ Harper's Bazaar ∙ PopSugar ∙ Real Simple ∙ BookRiot ∙ and more!

An overworked book publicist with a perfectly planned future hits a snag when she falls in love with her temporary roommate…only to discover he lives seven years in the past, in this witty and wise new novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Dead Romantics.

Sometimes, the worst day of your life happens, and you have to figure out how to live after it.

So Clementine forms a plan to keep her heart safe: work hard, find someone decent to love, and try to remember to chase the moon. The last one is silly and obviously metaphorical, but her aunt always told her that you needed at least one big dream to keep going. And for the last year, that plan has gone off without a hitch. Mostly. The love part is hard because she doesn’t want to get too close to anyone—she isn’t sure her heart can take it.

And then she finds a strange man standing in the kitchen of her late aunt’s apartment. A man with kind eyes and a Southern drawl and a taste for lemon pies. The kind of man that, before it all, she would’ve fallen head-over-heels for. And she might again.

Except, he exists in the past. Seven years ago, to be exact. And she, quite literally, lives seven years in his future.

Her aunt always said the apartment was a pinch in time, a place where moments blended together like watercolors. And Clementine knows that if she lets her heart fall, she’ll be doomed.

After all, love is never a matter of time—but a matter of timing.

Beautifully Written

Unlike any other love story I read. Kept me guessing what was going to happen next, what has changed. A great story detailing grief, change, time and love.

Falling in love with Ashley Poston

Ashley Poston is quickly becoming a favorite. It is unusual to find the perfect balance of magical realism in contemporary romance. This book is dreamy, deeply heart wrenching and will twist your heart up before it bursts it open! Honestly, my favorite part was the author’s note at the end. Be sure to listen past the story to hear it!

More Than A Love Story

This book is a deeply felt story about love and loss and change. If I look back 7 years, I marvel at how different I am—each decade seems to have its own personal challenges but, I suspect, few decades will have the dramatic impact that the last 7 years have had, collectively, in a way that has affected all of us personally. This book is making me think about all these things as I relate to these young, and then older, lovers. Ah, the pain of young love, the joy of mature love; the annoyances and earthquakes. It’s all better with those you love, and the loss of even one is shattering. Poignant and heartfelt. Narrator is, as ever, spot on.

Unique plot line that held interest

I thought the overall story was fun and light hearted. The plot line was just unique enough to hold my interest and for me to want to keep reading. Love the twists of the time travel, the writing was so well planned and thought out!!Trigger warning for short discussions on suicide. A great quick read and break from the psychological thrillers I typically read!
