Publisher's summary

A woman expecting to spend the holidays alone finds warmth in the iciest man she knows in this steamy and charming later-in-life romance by New York Times bestselling author Jane Porter.

It’s been five years since Andi McDermott lost her husband, and she's finally starting to feel like herself again, ready to live fully—she’s even started dating again. But when her holiday plans with her stepson and his fiancée fall through, she refuses to spend another Christmas alone while everyone is celebrating with their families. Impulsively, she decides to go up to her cabin in Lake Arrowhead, a place she used to love to visit but hadn’t gone to in years, not since the feud started between her husband and their nearest neighbor.

Andi starts to rethink her decision when being alone at the cabin proves to be more challenging than she expected—a heavy snowstorm hits the area, and Andi finds herself trapped there with no one to help except for her neighbor, Wolf Enders. A military vet who lives full-time on Lake Arrowhead, Wolf is as grumpy and intimidating as Andi remembers. But he’s also unexpectedly kind and uncomfortably sexy—his presence reminds Andi that she may be older, but her body still works perfectly fine, thank you very much. But can this good girl tame this sexy beast of a man, and will this snowy fling turn into a love of a lifetime?

Over 50 for the win!

First time for this author and narrator. Both are great. The characters are likable and real. The story got a bit boring when the unnecessary details of a grand kid were introduced, it felt like page filler. Otherwise it was a good story that kept my interest.

Absolutely Beautiful!

I found this book at the perfect time in my life. At 56 & waiting on God to bless me with love again, the author bolstered my hope that love, real unapologetic love can still happen. Thank you, Jane Porter for writing an amazing story. Thank you, Meg Sylvan, for superb narration. My ONLY issue with this book is Lindsey. I realize that she's going through so much. I completely understand how overwhelming grief & loss can be, but Lindsey, after a few chapters, grated on my nerves. Whiney, helpless, lazy & never wanting a solution or to do anything for herself. " It's everyone else's fault. She's exhausting & irritating.
Nonetheless, I know that I will listen to this one again and again.

Sweet and Heartwarming

This was nice somewhat clean romance. I personally, would have loved a little more heat instead of sparks 😆. Like the Characters. MMC was a total alpha and MFC was totally the opposite. I also like that it was a Story Love after 50+.

Talented narrator and interesting story

This story is adorable and sort of a comfort read without too much drama, but just enough happening to keep you interested. Andi is a far superior character than Paige in book 1, while still struggling with some anxieties or insecurities. Andi was a bit naive and it was clear her deceased husband was far from a good partner, yet she kept him on a pedestal. This allowed for her character to grow and learn from her past mistakes as she navigated a new relationship with a very difficult man. The narrator Meg Sylvan is sooo good - if you like her here, try Midnight Duet as she knocks it out of the park on that book. I'm really looking forward to the third book in this series.

Finally an amazing love story for people over 50!

This book spoke to me in so many ways: about loss, friendship, starting over, love and desire that we all can still feel after 50! I’m tired of people thinking life ends after 50! The characters had depth and attitude! It was a wonderful book. I only wish they would have had a male narrator for Wolf, but it was still a great listen!

Boring

Overall the book was fine and not a waste of my time, but there was no true climax of the story and the chemistry between the main characters was non-existent. As I said, it wasn't awful but it isn't something I can't say I liked either.

Good story with great characters...

The characters are solid, their thoughts explain their actions and intent. Andi is lovely. Wolf is a charmer. Margot a fun person to have around, Wolf's family, all good. Loved Andi and Wolf's interactions, becoming to really know each other, little moments where interest blooms, then attraction sparks.

Then Lindsey was introduced and things get bumpy. It was convenient that Andi and Wolf had homes in the same town. Why hadn't Wolf mention this? (He'd sent her a sympathy card when her husband died.) The 'secrets' between Lindsey and Andi. Wolf's blow up. Brutal. Brutal. Andi's actions afterwards. (Rolls eyes.) Seriously?

The wedding toast by Wolf's son was awesome, best ever. It was a true leap of faith that Andi took. I was not convinced it would be Wolf's last blow up.
