Publisher's summary

This audiobook consists of three books, which address the following topics:

Book 1: This book sheds light on two seemingly opposing ideas: Divorce or breakups, and marriage or intact relationships. Most of it helps you cope with the heartbreak of being dumped, breaking up, going through moving out or even signing the divorce papers. It is meant to help those who have experienced this see things in a different light, and at the same time, accept what cannot be changed.

A list of suggestions is given to speed up the mourning process and not get stuck in burying deep trauma under a pile of anger or denial. The steps to mourn effectively when experiencing a loss of a relationship that hasn’t ended well, are all given, as well as warnings against traps some people tend to fall into.

The last nine sections of the book will deal with those who are married and would like to stay married. There is valuable advice in here about sex, communication, finances, balancing out work and free time, etc.

Book 2: You have come across a useful guide that will show you the differences between men and women. Newsflash! Men think differently than women. But in which ways? Ah, that’s where this guide comes in. A number of observations and conclusions has been laid out for you, so you can understand yourself and the other sex better.

We’ll talk about funny and serious topics such as the fragile male ego, the general differences in what men and women expect in the bedroom, how they compete with each other, how they want to feel, and general communication styles they tend to embrace. Finally, a list of ideas is given with creative dates and gifts, so that you have something to refer to when you’re trying to come up with the next romantic evening.

Book 3: Here are some basic principles that will be discussed in detail. Some things are that white elephant in the room, something people generally avoid because it hurts their sense of self. We are talking about anger, frustration, and forgiveness, something everybody has to deal with from time to time; most of us every day, actually. By going through this book, you’ll have the weapons to attack this problem better (in a positive way). You may be able to control your emotions better because of the given suggestions and improve your relationship with your wife or husband.

Finally, the book discusses the various communication styles, the way to develop yourself, a long list of marriage tips, sexual problems, and a myriad of other related topics.

Remarkable

I do not think the word "remarkable" does this particular book justice. There has to be a better word, and I will keep looking, since it deserves something good to be said about it.

Can't complain

I can't complain about this book. It is long, it contains good advice, it talks about things so many people don't mention, the elephant in the room. There is so much in here it's hard to not get anything out of it. Sure, some things may be common sense, as we all know something about the other gender, marriage in general, or communication skills. But some of those are pure reminders. Others are new and refreshing ideas.

Marriage can be complicated

A marriage is a wonderful thing if it works. And hey, I think it's a better deal to get this audiobook to listen to, together, or alone, or both, than to pay 100 bucks an hour for a therapist. (only 1 hour). This is 12 hours or so of legit advice, obviously by someone who has thought about it a lot and is married too.

I liked it

I thought it was a great book for couples, cheaper than therapy, and longer too. So I recommend this book because if you are both listening to 12 hours (almost 13) of content about marriage, with advice, situations, anecdotes, and funny differences between the sexes, you're bound to get at least SOMETHING out of it, don't you think? I don't know if this person is a licensed therapist. Personally, I think she isn't, or she would have referred to examples from her practice, but she is married and shares some healthy wisdom and common knowledge we often forget about. This can help save your marriage, I'm sure of it.
